Upsound seeks an intern for the fall semester of 2024, with a main focus on marketing and sales. Tasks related to marketing will be developing ideas, writing, designing, and editing content/videos mainly for Instagram, but can also be TikTok, Facebook and other media. You will therefore be responsible for both the practical and the creative. And as the company is still it its early stages, the work will be in close cooperation with the CRO Emil, the UX/UI designer Martin, and the CEO Mathias, and you will have a lot of responsibility and creative freedom to strengthen our social media and platform, and thereby be our “public face” in certain regards.

Tasks related to sales will be outreach to potential customers/subscribers (studio owners, producers etc.) where you will learn a lot about cold calling, cold outreach on email, and general email marketing, and how to follow up on potential leads.

The internship is unpaid, but will hopefully give you a lot of practical experience, as well as insight into what working in a Startup is like. And if you plan to work in the music industry one day, you will also get a lot of great networking opportunities!

Field of study and work experience

We prefer that you either have a relevant field of study or relevant work experience in the different fields described above. This includes fields of study related to communication, marketing, sales and so forth. None of this is required, however, and we will be more than happy to receive and review all applicants who have an interest in the internship.

The most important aspect is that you have the courage to learn something new and to work in a startup. We would rather have a passionate soul with no experience, than an experienced person without any drive.

If you do however own a video camera and know how to shoot videos and edit them afterward, please write that in your application as this will only be a plus!

At Upsound we have a mission that everyone despite their financial leeway, personal network, contract with a label, etc. can find the exact recording studio or the professional musician they need for their next project. So, even though everyone has their own domains of responsibility, we have a flexible way of working where all voices are heard, the management structure is flat and fluid, and we work across responsibilities and competencies. In a short span of time, Upsound has become the leading platform for recording studio rental in Denmark, both on an hourly- and session basis. We facilitate a large number of crowdsourced studios throughout the country that rent out their studios through our platform, as well as a vast network of music producers, sound-engineers and songwriters. And in 2024, we changed our name from Juicebox to Upsound, re-branded ourselves at upsound.com, and are ready to take our first international steps! But why is there a need for a platform like ours? Countless musicians across all music industries does not have access to recording studios, which is both due to a lack of studios, that access to studios is often based on personal networks, as well as the fact that existing studios are often very expensive, and the common users therefore cannot afford to use them. But despite this, many studios are often empty, as most of them are rented on a monthly basis by only one or a few owners who does not use them full time, but finding renters for the available days and/or hours can be time consuming. At Upsound we try to solve both problems. With our crowdsourcing of existing studios across the country, we can highlight all the offers out there, thereby bringing the customers and the studio owners together. As of today, we have onboarded 40+ professional studios to our platform, have 1000+ users registered, and have facilitated over 800 bookings. But why us? Because we have experienced the problem ourselves as musicians. We, like many others who start making music, did not have a large network of friends in the industry, and we did not know any producers, sound engineers, or studios, and we certainly did not have money for what we could find on Google. We are therefore heavily dedicated to solving this issue, but have also seen the potential for a highly profitable business endeavor. This combination is why we went directly from university, to working full time on Upsound, to creating a team that have all the necessary skills to solve any problem we may encounter, to being adopted into Innfounder Graduate, to landing our first investment in December 2023, and our ambition is not only to solidify ourselves in Denmark, but to become the leading platform for recording studio rental in Europe.
