Junior Copywriter: Germany

Salary Competitive

Let me guess.

You know your ‘Vorsprung durch technik’ from your ‘Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut.’ without skipping a beat, don’t you? Articles? Write them. Ad copy? Love it. A highly complicated product release that needs to be pitched just perfectly to all of our customers? Not. A. Problem.

If that all sounds familiar, then we’ve got a seat for you.

We’re looking for a German-speaking Junior Copywriter to help us get even more German Kita Managers to try our Kita software by writing beautiful words all in the right order.

And who are we?

Famly is on a mission to close the collaboration gap in early childhood. So we’re building the world’s most collaborative Early Childhood Platform - a software platform for the grown-ups in a young child’s life to connect, share their workload, and learn about early childhood. Basically, Famly makes life easier for early educators, Kita managers and families so that they can get back to what matters.

As a copywriter at Famly, you’ll be working with our powerful duo of designers to make print material, digital ads, websites and more to drive people to try out Famly. You’ll also work with our Customer Marketing team (of one, she’s called Maria - she’s very nice) to translate and write up product updates, release notes and newsletters to convince our customers to try out more of our beautifully simple platform. And you’ll work with our talented english copywriters and content writers to try out some long-form article content that drives more brand awareness to Famly throughout Germany.

We’re looking for someone based in Copenhagen (or willing to relocate - we can help with that). We’re a flexible workplace and team, who also value that special creative energy that comes from being in the same space. That means we strike a balance between being together in the office and letting you produce wherever you do your best work.

What you'll be doing:

  • Writing the best landing pages, digital ads, print ads, social media copy, press releases and emails in the Kita tech space.

  • Writing our quarterly customer newsletter, in-app messages, release notes, and emails to help communicate new product releases to our customers.

  • Working with our Senior Customer Marketing Manager and Berlin-based team to internalise the needs of our German audience and ensure we communicate accordingly.

  • Write articles on topics relevant to our target audience of Kita managers for our blog, helping to grow our audience and brand awareness.

  • Work with our Senior Copywriter Bronagh to grow the German pillar of our brand voice and tone guidelines, to help shape the way we tell our story in the German market.

  • Occasionally pitch ideas and run with projects that help to develop our brand presence in the German market.

  • Manage your own copy projects, coordinating with our design team, German Marketing Project manager, and local German sales and customer teams.

  • Occasionally contribute to UX writing for very important projects in-app.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have 1-2 years of experience as a copywriter, or you are a promising talent with all the skills but none of the experience (yet).

  • Write engaging copy that delights and convinces.

  • Understand how to translate in a way that makes the end product feel native and localised.

  • Are very comfortable working in English.

  • Are an excellent self-editor.

  • Understand the basics of good brand voice and the power of consistent storytelling.

  • Are proactive and high agency - you’d rather ask for forgiveness than permission

  • Speak up when you disagree, but accept when new information changes your mind.

  • Great at asking questions and deeply fascinated about things you don’t know about right now.

  • Deeply passionate about the craft of good marketing copywriting

  • Understand that being friendly is a superpower.

  • Care about changing the way early childhood is perceived

{optional} And it’d be even better if you:

  • Understand the basic concepts of SEO

  • Have experience in early education or child psychology

  • Have experience in SaaS or software generally

  • Have interesting perspectives/experience you can bring in from a totally different career.

While we’d love someone who has experience in the arena doing this type of work, we appreciate that everyone brings something unique. If you don’t tick every box above, to hell with it - apply anyway. We’d still love to read your application.

And who are Famly?

You’re probably wondering at this stage, and Famly are...? Well, it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.

These days, the 140 of us building Famly talk about trying to do one thing. Giving children the best possible start to life. Or rather, making it easier for the 7000 nurseries and childcare centers who use Famly every day to that, on our behalf.

We do it with the world’s first Early Childhood Platform, software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child’s day while they’re away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 104,000 childcare professionals in the UK, US, Germany and 15 other countries, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.

Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter.

The interview process looks like:

  • A quick chat with our People Partner in Brand, Friedrich

  • A quick logical test

  • A 1-1 interview with Matt, Director of Brand and Comms

  • A short assignment

  • An assignment review with Matt and Senior Copywriter Bronagh, and a small live task with our Brand Design Lead Julie

  • (Hopefully) an offer!

You’ll love working here because we have:

  • Competitive pension, private health insurance, and paid maternity/paternity leave.

  • A clear career framework and coaching to make sure you’re growing, a $1000 personal development budget and a ‘We’ll buy you any book you want’ policy.

  • We’re all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.

  • A value of ‘make your colleagues shine' is all about breaking down silos, celebrating one another, and staying connected across departments, offices, and oceans.

  • We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new, challenging tasks.

  • Top-notch work equipment (including noise-cancelling headphones for those focus periods!).

  • A lot of flexibility for you to work in the way (and place) that suits you best, while making sure we maintain a strong in-office connection a handful of days a week too.

We're looking to fill the position as soon as possible, so get your application in today by sending us:

  • Your CV and cover letter covering what speaks to you about the role and what you can bring - in any form you like

  • A few examples of work you’ve made that you’re really proud of (or a portfolio if you have it)

  • An example of some great work by another person that inspires you - and why.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Famly is committed to creating a more diverse, equal, and inclusive workforce, building teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. It is a fundamental policy at Famly not to discriminate on any basis or characteristics and celebrate diversity. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to apply.
