Hi there. We are dQmetrics, and we are looking for a co-founder who can lead the hardware development and take our prototype to the next level.
We are developing a novel wearable wristband that auto-tracks the calories eaten - without manual meal registration. The goal is to make lasting change possible for slightly obese individuals, by meeting them where they are and empowering them to fine-tune their eating habits - at a pace they can maintain in the long run. We got working prototypes, and we just finished our proof of technology where we showed that the concept works in laboratory settings, where the test persons are sitting still. Now we need your help to improve the mechanical design and sensor placements, so the prototype can be used in operational settings, where the prototype is worn as a normal smartwatch.
We are looking to raise our first investment round in the coming 3-6 months. When we raise our first round, we can offer equity and a salary that will be able to sustain you. In the mean time we expect the position to be part time with around 5- to 20-hours per week. During this period, you will start earning vested equity, but the position will be unpaid. We are quite flexible around the part time period and take your situation into account.
Impactful Work: Your work will contribute directly to breakthroughs in wearable technology, improving health and wellness for our users. You're not just building a product; you're making a difference.
Continuous Growth: You get to work with cutting edge sensor and wearable technologies in a complex vendor and production setup.
Collaborative Culture: Thrive in a team that cares. Our environment is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared passion for innovation.
Multidisciplinary Team: Being in the wearable space you get to work at the intersection between Hardware, Software, Machine Learning and the Health Sciences.
In the beginning you will get time to become familiar with our existing prototype and our custom PCB. The firmware is written in C on Zephyr OS, and we used KiCad for the hardware design. The next steps in the role will be to:
Update the mechanical design of the prototype
Optimize the sensor placements of our key sensors
Update the materials surrounding our key sensors
Together with the rest of the team, we will choose the exact sensor suite for the prototype version that will be ready for closed customer testing (where 20 testpersons will wear our prototype for 1 month)
Update our PCB to fit in the new design and sensor setup
Initiate production of our next batch of prototypes
We’re an early-stage deep tech startup and we are passionate about developing the next generation of wearables. We believe, that the wearables industry is just getting started, and that there is a huge market opportunity in moving away from traditional vital sign sensors and expand the range of sensors to unlock the secrets of the human body. Currently, we are a team of two. We got the business background and the Machine Learning profile covered. Besides you, we are looking to onboard a software engineer.
Experience with prototyping and hardware development
Experience in creating small units and devices
Experience with product cycles, and has taken atleast one product from design to production
Experience with C
Experience with KiCad
Knowledge of microcontrollers
General knowledge about GitLab is a plus
Then, we would love to hear from you. Applications are reviewed continuously.
