At MeetingPackage, our vision is to make meeting rooms and event spaces accessible to everyone. We automate the current manual booking process to make it faster, more efficient, and delightful. We're now looking for an experienced backend developer to join our small team to develop new features, improve existing functionality, and ensure scalability as we grow.
Our product suite consists of three products. In addition, we've developed our Open MeetingPackage API (OMPA) to allow marketplaces, travel agencies, or other providers to fetch availability, content, and pricing from our venue partners.
And here you come in. As a backend developer, you help improve and build our product suite and API to be reliable and scalable. You're at home designing robust RESTful APIs and writing efficient and tested server-side JavaScript. You might even get occasional goosebumps when you've built something beautiful and efficient. Well, call us freaks, but we do!
Talking about the team, we're a small, diverse, and friendly team of 20+ professionals and nine nationalities spread across the globe. You'll find our developers, designers, marketers, managers, and salespeople working seamlessly and having fun together. We spend time together and organize offsite events at least once a year.
If this starts to sound like your cup of tea, keep on reading.
Work with our product suite. You take responsibility for developing new features and enhancing existing functionalities.
Plan and develop the product roadmap with the team. You bring ideas and expertise to the table.
Ensure service scalability and reliability. You write effective code following best practices and are at home with database design.
Own your work. As a small team, we are all responsible for the success of our company.
You are proficient in modern Node.js and Typescript. We build our backend in Node.js and Typescript.
You have an advantage, if you can also work with PHP code if needed. A large part of our product is still running on a legacy PHP (Drupal) stack until we complete the conversion to Node/Typescript.
You have experience with relational and non-relational databases. We use PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.
You enjoy working with cloud platforms. We use AWS, but experience with any platform is considered a plus.
You are comfortable building RESTful APIs. We bet you can't wait to contribute to our OMPA (Open MeetingPackage API)!
You have some experience with at least one JavaScript Frontend framework. We use React on the front end with some bits and pieces on Vue. Don't worry, though: We have dedicated developers for the front end.
You write tests for everything you build. We need to make sure that everything we ship works seamlessly.
You know at least the basic DevOps tooling. Tools and principles such as CI, CD, Github, Docker, Vagrant, Travis, and AWS CodeDeploy / CodePipeline ring a bell to you.
You want to be proud of your work.
You are located in the EU. They say the world is small, but we believe good relationships require regular in-person face time.
Ideally, you have 2-5 years of development experience with the technologies listed.
We're on the move. We're cash-flow positive, have enough capital to fuel our growth, and are willing to find only the best people to build a company everybody enjoys working at.
You're joining a team, not just a company. Together, we celebrate, brainstorm, code, and occasionally indulge in Tuesday pizza parties when we have our bi-weekly team meetings at the office.
The industry is evolving. Hotels and venues have been manually working on bookings for a long time. We're helping our customers – and the industry – to take meeting and event booking online. As our COO Mika keeps reminding us: If something can go online, it will go online.
You're in good care. We offer competitive salaries, stock options, health insurance, and a weekly 1-hour workout break. In addition, you'll get a Macbook Pro, a stipend to improve your home office, flexible paid time off, and national holidays. We also encourage you to study for two hours every week during the working hours.
