Founding Full Stack Engineer at TravelTail: Shape the Future of Pet-Inclusive Travel

Context

TravelTail, a groundbreaking startup in the pet travel industry, is on the hunt for a Founding Full Stack Engineer. We're not just another travel booking platform; we're a comprehensive solution aiming to make pet-inclusive travel a hassle-free and enjoyable experience. You'll be at the forefront of this revolution, using cutting-edge technologies like React and TypeScript for front-end development and Python for back-end logic. As a technical leader, you'll mentor other engineers, contribute to our culture, and play a pivotal role in scaling our platform.

Responsibilities

• Bring Designs to Life: Transform high-fidelity mockups into pixel-perfect UIs.

• End-to-End Development: Own feature stories from back-end to front-end, connecting all the dots.

• Data Personalization: Work on a cross-functional team focused on tailoring user experiences through data.

• Optimization & Scalability: Ensure web services are fast, reliable, and can handle our global user base.

• Team Leadership: Spearheaded the hiring and development of an in-house engineering team.

Requirements

• Detail-oriented: A passion for getting every pixel right.

• Startup Experience: At least 8 years in software engineering, with a focus on products that have a large user base or in an entrepreneurial startup environment.

• Technical Skills:

  • 4+ years of recent experience with ReactJS (and Typescript preferred).

  • 6+ years in back-end development, including REST APIs and various authentication methods. Microservice and previous experience with system architecture is a big plus

• Toolset: Jira, GitHub, GCP, Sentry, Vercel, third-party APIs, selenium, Redis, elastic stack, PostgreSQL, MongoDB 

• Current tech stack: BE: Python FE: Typescript(Next.js)

• Strategic Thinker: Ability to foresee challenges and opportunities, making data-driven decisions.

• Team Player: Excellent collaboration skills across multiple departments.

• Mentorship: A knack for teaching and elevating other engineers.

• Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Run and GKE

  • Familiarity with Travel sector API development.
