At Elk, we’re a team of music lovers, ranging from violin makers and python magicians to computer PhDs and record label managers. The majority of our employees are engineers, not business people, and our working language is English (and music). At the core of what we do is an OS for Audio called Elk Audio OS, the fastest audio OS on the planet. On top of this, we've built an ecosystem for musicians called Elk LIVE. Elk LIVE enables musicians to play live and in sync together over the world wide web.

About the role 🤝

As our new Backend Developer, you’ll join an incredibly talented tech team counting 12  people. At Elk, we truly embody the meaning of ‘Full Stack’ as we work with everything from microcontrollers all the way to the cloud, and everything in between - and we love to exchange knowledge up and down the development pipeline. You’ll learn a lot, get tons of creative freedom and the chance to have a big impact on both our products and technologies. 

We’re based in Stockholm, but most of us work from wherever they are, spending at least one day per week at the office. Speaking of the office, we have a soundproof recording studio and all the instruments you can possibly imagine, at your disposal, in case you’re interested in that kind of stuff. 

What we hope you’ll enjoy doing ✌️

• Play a fundamental role in upgrading our music service Elk LIVE by developing and maintaining the backend services of the system

• Coordinate the deployment of the services together with our cloud engineer

• Work independently, but at the same time interact closely with other team members working on various aspects of the system (cloud, frontend, other backend services, real-time networking, DSP)

Skill & Requirements 🤖

Our main requirement is that you have strong programming skills and a passion for your craft - any other relevant skills will ease the learning curve and make you a stronger fit. Examples include;

• 2+ years of team experience working as a Backend or Fullstack Developer

• Good knowledge of modern web architectures, especially with respect to non-REST APIs (socket.io, JSON-RPC)

• Good Python knowledge and web-related frameworks

• Experience with one or more of the major cloud provider platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)

It’s an extra bonus if you have any of the following;

• Experience with Flask web applications

• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and monitoring

• Experience integrating third-party analytics tools and customer data platforms

• Experience working with advanced analytics tools

• If you have played in a band, produced beats in your bedroom, or anything related to music, that's a big plus.
