Fluidans’ RheoStream® process rheometer for the first time makes it possible to measure the rheology of liquids in real-time. With RheoStream, manufacturers of paints, lotions and liquid detergents can continuously monitor and optimize the production process and make large savings by reducing time, waste and re-work.
The RheoStream instrument requires an overall daily cleaning of its entire measuring system and occasionally (weekly/monthly), a more thorough cleaning procedure is also needed as a part of the general maintenance plan. The instrument cleaning is currently made with either pure water or solvent (depending on what the product is made of), and the consumed liquid volume has been decreased to a minimum level to reduce waste. However, the use of a cleaning agent seems essential for improved cleaning. The aim of this project is to optimize and implement cleaning procedures for RheoStream. This will be based on chemical understanding of cleaning agents and testing of them in the laboratory.
Optimize cleaning procedures for a capillary-based measuring system using cleaning agents.
Build up a chemical understanding of the different types of cleaning agents available and their potential use for cleaning the RheoStream instrument.
Describe possible procedures for improving the cleaning of the RheoStream instrument.
Perform the initial implementation of these cleaning procedures to evaluate their performance on the real instrument. This will be done in close collaboration with Fluidan.
You will work in close collaboration with our development team, especially our Application Specialists. The workplace is at DTU Science Park in Kgs. Lyngby, Copenhagen, with the possibility of remote work.
This project is suitable as a Bachelor Thesis Project or as a Diploma Internship, or as an (unpaid) internship.
