Scientific Editor and Writer

We seek a senior editor to work alongside our CEO (Editor n chief) and senior copyeditor. You can expand and nurture your curiosity through our collaborative editing process with freelance science writers worldwide. In addition, you will also cooperate with our clients and, from time to time, take a deep dive into new fields to expand your domain expertise.

This position is for someone with a scientific background, ideally within (STEM) such as health sciences, biological sciences, health tech, environmental, engineering, or a related field.

The position may be part-time or full-time, with an expected start date of August-September 2023.

As a senior editor, you will be an incremental part of how we build a brand, business, and digital presence. As senior editors, we expect you to provide constructive feedback to our writers and be on their team, challenging and helping them to produce the highest quality content.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Revise and edit content submissions within your domain

  • Fact-check and cross-reference content as needed

  • Work cross-disciplinary and various cultures

  • Write and research content within your field

  • Ensure clients within your domain are receiving high-quality and timely content

Other tasks may include

  • Formulate editorial and strategic content plans.

  • Participate and present in client meetings as a content expert.

  • Deliver content insights (based on performance and purpose).

  • Work with marketing and sales to help devise campaign messaging.

  • Collaborate, review, and work closely with marketing and sales

On top of that, you have:

  • Proven layman, academic, and or technical writing skills

  • Previous experience with creating compelling, clear, and succinct documents

  • Effective written and verbal communication along with graphic communication.

  • Agility and ability to adapt to new ways of working.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and scheduling software

  • Excellent relationship-building skills, multitasking capabilities, and coordination skills.

About you: 

  • You must hold an MSc. or Ph.D. within STEM or highly related

  • You must be fluent in English (written and oral presentations skills)

  • You are somewhat meticulous and pay attention to detail

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in content creation, strategies, marketing, and/or brand development OR 3 or more years of post-doctoral experience

  • You can read and navigate academic literature.

  • You read business magazines or high-quality media outlets.

  • Experience in working with industrial, tech, and/or medical brands is appreciated.

  • You are a results-oriented person, possibly analytical, and enjoy the intersection of science and business.

  • You may have an entrepreneurial spirit or admire innovation.

  • You like finding creative solutions, can find hidden gems, and can take content from good to great.

  • You’re a team player with a collaborative attitude, and you love to drive conversations.

  • You like to present and talk about your ideas but seek ideas and insight by listening to feedback from your coworkers and clients.

  • You know how to think strategically because you understand how great content builds stories and can grow business.
