GIS specialist for award winning, fast-growing climate tech startup, founded in 2020 out of Bergen, Norway.

The combined effects of climate change and urbanization are causing great challenges across the globe through devastating floods, landslides, and storms – and we have only seen the beginning. At 7Analytics, we are building the world's most advanced data-platform right at the intersection between natural hazards, risk management, and tech. As the winners of the Norwegian construction innovation award 2021 and geospatial data prize 2022, we are already in a position where we are contributing to a safer future - for people, nature, and critical infrastructure.

For our next growth chapter, we are looking for a strong addition to our GIS team.

What will your new workday look like?

You will be solving challenging technical problems and building solutions in an ever-evolving environment along with other smart and passionate team members like yourself. As a GIS specialist at 7Analytics, you will be working at the interface between our products and our vast geospatial data library.

Your main colleagues will be other hard-core, fellow GIS specialists and you will also work closely with product owners and software engineering teams to develop high-quality solutions.

On your day to day, you apply best practices for huge datasets and design efficient work processes. You ensure performance, speed, scalability, and quality when you manage our data using geodatabase tools like PostGIS.

Sitting in our nice space at StartupLab together with our tech and commercial teams, your morning will start with getting the next piece of our climate risk puzzle ready for a deadline a couple of weeks ahead. Suddenly a colleague asks you to stop whatever you are doing and help solve a critical issue. Looks like the one-hour exercise you had planned will be pushed back a bit. After a joint lunch, you present your latest achievements at an internal knowledge sharing event. Finally, in the afternoon you get around to finalizing the planned tasks. You are comfortable that the team will meet the upcoming deadline.

On your way home, you feel like you made small but steady progress towards some really cool climate hazard solutions. You learned new stuff and had fun with your colleagues. You are already thinking about how to solve tomorrow’s challenges.

We hire talent with great mindsets. The rest, we can untap and develop together. However, checking some boxes of the list below sure helps.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in GIS or a related field.

  • Proven track record working with geospatial solutions.

  • PostGIS skills - experience in developing web applications.

  • Experience with cloud services and data management.

  • Good oral and written communications skills in Norwegian and/or English.
