About Monil

Monil is a Norwegian startup founded in 2022 by an experienced group of people from Prox Dynamics/Teledyne FLIR, Energy Micro/Silicon Labs and Cognite. We aim to design and deliver world-leading livestock tracking, virtual fencing and grazing technology. By combining cutting edge technology with natural animal behaviour, our products will help increase profitability in livestock farming, enhance animal welfare and positively impact the environment.

The essence of our product is a beautifully engineered collar worn by grazing animals that records the animal's position and uses physical cues to contain the animal inside a virtual fence. Through a neatly designed smartphone app, the farmer can set up and adjust the virtual fence and monitor the activity and health of the animals.

The hardware team

The hardware team is responsible for developing the electronics inside the animal collar. This requires multiple disciplines ranging from efficient energy harvesting and smart battery charging to designing efficient antennas in a small form factor.

Putting together the right components and making them work well together is the key to a successful product. We achieve this by working in close collaboration with the mechanics and the firmware engineering team. Therefore, the hardware team owns the whole development process in-house from concept development, schematic and PCB layout, antenna simulation and design to product qualification, test and full scale production at subcontractors.

About the job

The early phase of our company means that you will be involved in solving a wide range of challenges related to the hardware design of our product. As the hardware team owns the whole development process in-house, typical tasks will involve concept development, schematic and PCB layout, antenna simulation and design to product qualification, test and full scale production at subcontractors.

You will have the opportunity to contribute on all tasks regarding hardware development from cradle to full production.
