About Monil

Monil is a Norwegian startup founded in 2022 by an experienced group of people from Prox Dynamics/Teledyne FLIR, Energy Micro/Silicon Labs and Cognite. We aim to design and deliver world-leading livestock tracking, virtual fencing and grazing technology. By combining cutting edge technology with natural animal behaviour, our products will help increase profitability in livestock farming, enhance animal welfare and positively impact the environment.

The essence of our product is a beautifully engineered collar worn by grazing animals that records the animal's position and uses physical cues to contain the animal inside a virtual fence. Through a neatly designed smartphone app, the farmer can set up and adjust the virtual fence and monitor the activity and health of the animals.

The software team

Our main web application is implemented using TypeScript and React, communicating with our APIs using gRPC-web (GraphQL may be used in the future). Our frontend apps are data-intensive, requiring clever and performant visualizations to make them not only functional and reliable, but also delightful to use. We're not afraid to invest heavily in technologies which help us provide better tools for our users. We plan on creating native apps for iOS and Android to provide the best user experience possible.

About the job

• Join Monil's Cloud Software team, developing and managing services to manage, control and monitor our physical products.

• Help create the best possible, mission-critical, tools for our users to interact with their livestock and our physical products, building fantastic visualizations based on large amounts of data.

• Work together with the rest of the team to define new features and improve existing ones.

• Work with web and native technologies, providing a unified interface for our users.

It is beneficial if you have

• 3+ years of experience using React or other frameworks, TypeScript.

• Experience developing frontend applications with heavy API use for data fetching and visualization.

• Experience creating and maintaining reliable, clean-looking and delightful applications and the ability to work independently on presentation while presenting a unified feel.

• Bonus points for backend programming experience.
