Salary Competitive

At MeetingPackage, our vision is to make meeting rooms and event spaces accessible to everyone. We automate the current manual booking process to make it faster, more efficient and delightful. We're now looking for an experienced backend developer to join our small team to develop new features, improve existing functionality and ensure scalability as we grow.

Our product suite consists of three products. In addition, we've developed our Open MeetingPackage API (OMPA) to allow marketplaces, travel agencies or other providers to fetch availability, content and pricing from our venue partners.

And here you come in. As a backend developer, you help improve and build our product suite and API to be reliable and scalable. You're at home designing robust RESTful APIs and writing efficient and tested server-side JavaScript. You might even get occasional goosebumps when you've built something beautiful and efficient. Well, call us freaks, but we do!

Talking about the team, we're a small, diverse and friendly team of 20+ professionals and nine nationalities spread across the globe. You'll find our developers, designers, marketers, managers and salespeople working seamlessly and having fun together. We spend time together and organise offsite events at least once a year.

This position is for full-time employment.

If this starts to sound like your cup of tea, keep on reading.

Requirements:

As a backend developer, you will

  • Work with our product suite. You take responsibility for developing new features and enhancing existing core functionalities.

  • Plan and develop the product roadmap with the team. You bring ideas and expertise to the table.

  • Ensure service scalability and reliability. You write effective code and are at home with database design.

  • Own your work. As a small team, we are all responsible for the success of our company.

You'll fit this position if

  • You are proficient in modern Node.js and PHP. We plan to convert our backend to Node.js, but in the meantime, we work with PHP, too.

  • You have experience with relational and non-relational databases. We have used MongoDB, PostgreSQL and MySQL.

  • You enjoy working with cloud platforms. We use AWS, but experience with any platform is considered a plus.

  • You are comfortable building RESTful APIs. We bet you can't wait to contribute to our OMPA (Open MeetingPackage API)!

  • You have some experience with at least one JavaScript framework. We use React on the frontend with some bits and pieces on Vue. Don't worry, though: We have dedicated developers for the frontend.

  • You write tests for everything you build. We need to make sure that everything we ship works seamlessly.

  • You know at least the basic DevOps tooling. Tools and principles such as CI, CD, Git, Docker, Vagrant, Travis and AWS CodeDeploy / CodePipeline probably ring a bell to you.

  • You want to be proud of your work.

Benefits:

  • Exciting and challenging work with friendly co-workers

  • An opportunity to jump to a high-growth startup

  • Competitive salary with a possibility of stock options

  • Gear of your choice (with a Mac / Win / Linux laptop)

  • A standing desk for your home office to work remotely

  • One hour a week to do sports during the workday

  • Healthcare insurance

  • Regular team and offsite events

Working at
MeetingPackage

Our company was founded in 2014 when our CEO experienced the frustration of selling, managing and booking a meeting room or an event space. How could it be such a complicated and time-consuming process? MeetingPackage was born from this challenge, charged with the mission to help hoteliers sell their meeting rooms with the same ease as they can sell their bedrooms. We are a team of 25 of over ten different nationalities, and our official office language is English. Our office is near the Leppävaara Train Station in an old mansion where we have over 400m2 of space on two floors. We all share a goal of making booking meeting & event spaces as easy as booking hotel rooms. We have three main products for venues and hoteliers: MeetingPackage Venue & Sales Management - allows venues and hotels to manage and enhance the content, inventory, pricing, business rules, connectivity/integrations and much more. MeetingPackage Internet Booking Engine - allows venues and hotels to white label and implement the technology within their website through a no-code platform or via our APIs. MeetingPackage Channel Manager and Global Distribution - allows hotels and venues to distribute their inventory and take control of sales through one interface to over 10 000 channels that are connected with MeetingPackage. In short, our ambition is to have more than 100 000 venues with live availability connected by 2025, which will make us the largest distribution network globally. 🚀
