As we ramp up our business in Brazil with recurring revenue from major railway companies, we seek a technical, hands-on geologist with experience in the region. Whether you consider yourself primarily an engineering geologist or formally a geotechnical engineer yet with a strong geology orientation, what counts is that you deeply understand the relevance of geological risks to infrastructure projects. Ultimately, you will handle the majority of the technical project work for customers in Brazil and the greater region, backed and in close collaboration with the Technology and Geology & Geophysics teams at HQ in Norway. Your primary workplace will be EMerald Geomodelling Brazil.

Key responsibilities include the following:

• Technical communication with project owners and project consultants

• QC and parsing of geological or geotechnical ground investigation data

• Apply EMerald’s proprietary ML-driven analysis tools to geophysical models and geological / geotechnical data to craft integrated ground models

• Produce and deliver reports and presentations illustrating the crafted ground models

• Involvement in geophysical data QA/QC and processing is desired but optional.

Key skills & experiences include

• Excellent oral and written English and Portuguese

• Excellent professional communication and presentation skills

• Good python scripting skill and experience with Jupyter notebooks

• Minimum 5 years of experience from engineering geology / infrastructure projects in Brazil

• Flexibility to travel on site or to Norway for limited periods

• Experience with the use of geophysics in engineering

• Experience with geotechnical data including SPT, sondagem mista, Soil augering, lab tests and the like

• Experience with Microsoft-project is desired

• Experience with electromagnetic geophysics is desired
