COPENHAGEN-BASED SCALE-UP

GLOBAL SAAS PLATFORM FOR CONTAINER TRANSPORT

eeSea aims to be the vessel scheduling backbone of the container shipping industry

Global container shipping carries 95% of the world’s manufactured goods. To many, the Ever Given stuck across the Suez Canal was a first peek at the interconnectedness of global supply chains; subsequently Covid put the spotlight firmly on timely goods delivery (or lack of same…) and transport costs; and most recently the industry is started to grapple with its role as a major emitter of greenhouse gasses.

This industry could be your playground. Headquartered in Copenhagen, eeSea is a well-established maritime supply chain intelligence scale-up, offering unbiased visibility and predictive analysis. Our vision is to become the central scheduling platform for the entire trillion-dollar industry.

eeSea delivers data at an aggregated or granular level, through customized dashboards, downloads or API, combining multiple data sources, historical statistics, and elements of machine learning and AI. We serve clients across the entire massive, complex, and largely fragmented maritime industry, who use eeSea for tasks ranging from high level industry analysis and benchmarking, investment proposals, contract negotiations, supply chain planning, asset optimization, down to daily port operations or vessel and cargo forecasting. We’re working on an index of GHG emissions for container transportation, too.

The team currently consists of the founder/CEO, the development team, the research & industry analysis team, as well as our customer success manager. We have ambitious dreams to change the container shipping industry fundamentally, but also immediate and realistic targets to grow profitably and aggressively. Therefore, we are looking for a driven and experienced Senior Sales Manager to help us get there.

Job Description – you will triple our revenues in two years

Sales has until now been led by the founder, and it will be your job to take over this responsibility and build a scalable sales process. In doing so you have to be willing to roll up your sleeves and close the deals yourself; while simultaneously building the process and team to scale our sales scope and capabilities.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Sales growth - tripling our ARR by Dec 2024. Note that you will initially be a one person team (potentially joined by a junior sales associate), so you have to generate the revenue yourself to grow the team

  • The sales process; our go-to-market strategy, channels, our playbook

  • Customer segmentation and targeting

  • Product definition and packaging - with our Product Manager

  • Marketing and brand voice - with our Marketing Manager

  • Handing landed customers to the Customer Success Manager for post-close onboarding and upselling

  • Our CRM system - maintenance and reporting of KPIs

  • You’ll be part of the senior management team, and as such will be expected to guide and assist other functions

These are the skills and experiences we’re looking for:

  • Understanding of our customers, why and what they need. We’re not selling dumb data, but helping them solve a problem

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to add context around data insights & explain methodologies and business applications to both technical and non-technical partners customers

  • Experience with complex sales processes with high deal values, where multiple stakeholders in the client organization are involved

  • A feel for how to open doors with or without existing networks, how to increase the conversion rates and reduce the time in pipeline. You know when to grab the phone, Zoom or hop on a plane to push the process forward

  • Ideally, you already have an existing network within the industry, or

  • Experience from other high-growth B2B scale-ups

And, as a person you:

  • Enjoy interacting with people, constantly listening, probing and selling

  • Feel driven by the challenge of growing a platform and the commercial team to sustain it

  • Are proactive, self-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-moving start-up environment

  • Take ownership; as the commercial responsibility resides with you, it will be driven to forward and with high quality

  • Are structured, focused, and able to keep to task lists and timelines

  • Communicate fluently and effectively in English, internally and with external partners. In fact, speaking Danish is not a requirement in this job

  • Do not need to have transport industry experience but are willing to acquire professional understanding and lingo

  • Are committed to the job and the growth opportunity in a scale-up

  • Enjoy working as part of a team, with the smiles, grudges, chaos, frustrations, laughter, and good people that come along with the experience

What do you get out of it?

Do you dread the heavy corporate structure and boring work routines of large companies? We are still a growing scale-up, so expect none of that. We offer you an exciting position within a small company where routines are few and we are flexible and passionate about what we do. There is opportunity for growth and professional development, and as the team grows we’ll be looking for a Head of Sales to manage it.

We believe in and commit to working closely with, and coaching our new team members, so you will need to learn and teach at the same time. Passion is non-negotiable; you provide energy and drive, and love what you do.

The Senior Sales Manager position is full-time and offers a competitive, market-aligned salary, based on experience and fit.

Another benefit to working in a small team is that you’ll be able to pick your working hours flexibly and make them work for your routine - and customers. You’ll find our office at a central location in Vesterbro, Copenhagen - however, for the right candidate, this could very well be a remote working position.

We have ambitious dreams to fundamentally change the container shipping industry, but also immediate and realistic targets to grow our company aggressively, while enjoying the ride.
