About Ovulai

Did you know that 1 in 5 women suffer from a hormonal disorder called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and that 87% of these women experience a lack of education, guidance and treatment from Swedish healthcare?

Ovulai is an early-stage startup, providing digital self-help programs to relieve chronic gynecological conditions, starting with PCOS. We recently launched the first version of our app to the public and it’s now time to listen, learn and iterate to move beyond the minimum viable product toward a truly sticky and lovable product. In other words, we have just gotten started and this is the perfect opportunity to join our team during a really exciting part of the startup journey!

About the role

We are looking for an additional software developer who is passionate about working at a social impact startup and digitalizing healthcare. Given the early stage of the company, you will get the opportunity to have a large impact and influence everything from technical decisions to product direction and company values. You will work closely with and complement the CTO who has a background as a senior backend developer from both well-established companies such as Spotify and early-stage startups. Based on results from experiments, user interviews and usage data, you will be working on implementing new features and functionality in our web-based app. As a medical tech startup, we're combining a fast-paced, experiment-driven approach with a quality mindset and always strive to find pragmatic trade-offs between the two.

We are a Stockholm-based team and work partly remotely but spend at least a couple of days a week in our shared office space to meet up with teammates, our business coaches and other inspiring startups.

Who you are

We believe that you have worked as a software developer professionally for some years, but are now longing to work for a company that is making a positive impact on society. You probably see yourself as a creator and want to have a significant impact on the direction of the product.

You will, together with the CTO, be responsible for implementing all parts of our web-based mobile app for Android and iOS. This means that you should be comfortable working with HTML/CSS, TypeScript, React.js (or another frontend framework), Node.js (or other backend languages) and AWS (or another cloud service provider). On top of that, it's good if you have an eye for what’s visually pleasing and are comfortable making small design decisions on your own based on existing UI frameworks. It's also a bonus if you have worked with developing mobile apps before. However, the most important thing is not what exact tools and technologies you have worked with in the past, but that you are not hesitant to step outside of your comfort zone and that you have the practical knowledge to be able to do so.

As the team player you are, you enjoy collaboration, such as pair programming and brainstorming sessions, but are also able to work independently and structure your own work. You are a great communicator in either Swedish or English who can explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and can turn disagreements into constructive discussions.
