EIT Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) is Europe’s foremost climate innovation initiative. We understand that keeping global temperature rise below 1.5˚C demands unprecedented change. It requires new social dynamics, ways of doing business, capital flows, policymaking, economic models, and new ways of living. That is why our mission is to leverage the power of systems innovation to transform whole places, industries, and value chains by 2030, working across sectors to develop and scale ambitious, mission-led programmes.
Established in 2010 and headquartered in Amsterdam, we orchestrate a community of more than 200 organisations including large corporations and SMEs, municipal and regional governments, universities, and research institutes, as well as non-governmental organisations and uncommon actors. Historically, we have been funded by our founder and core funder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but we are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model.
EIT Climate-KIC colleagues are based in one of our local offices across Europe or work remotely from home based in one of the countries where we have a branch. We meet at our local offices to exchange and connect and use online collaboration tools work with each other and with our Community. On occasion, we meet in-person as teams, and once per year as an organisation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for someone that wants to gain experience in marketing and communication applied to Sustainability, by helping us develop our community platform, ClimateHive. In the upcoming months, the platform will require us to strategise and plan content, develop the visual identity, and track and adapt to use metrics and analytics. We want your insights, knowledge, and creativity, to help us develop a platform that is interesting to our Community members.
This is an unpaid position as we expect interns to be under Statens Uddannelsesstøtte or a similar scheme. We can support you if you wish to work on a project for your studies in alignment with the position.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with strategy and content creation for our community platform
Plan community campaigns, draft posts, and create graphics for upcoming Community events.
Work in the execution of internal and external communications, such as newsletters, event agendas and graphics, presentations, etc.
Key Working Relationships
You will be working with the Community Team, which currently consists of 3 people based in Denmark, Germany, and Spain. You may occasionally interact with other Climate-KIC departments, such as Communications or different education or strategic programs, as the need arises.
ABOUT YOU
Education and Skills
Student or graduate of communications and marketing, or equivalent experience (you do not have to be enrolled in a study program at the time of the internship).
Fluent in English
Hands-on experience with social media management is a strong advantage.
Experience working with basic image and video editing tools (eg. Canva) is a strong advantage.
Knowledge of web analytics and online engagement metrics.
Ability to multi-task and adapt easily to changes.
Comfortable working remotely, structuring own time with no oversight.
CONDITIONS
This is an unpaid position. We expect interns to be under Statens Uddannelsesstøtte. Candidates must have the right to work in the EU prior to applying for the position.
Although the internship is remote, ideally, the intern will be based in Copenhagen or able to travel to the Copenhagen EIT Climate-KIC office in BloxHub for in-person meetings (at least once a month).
