What is Proper?

We like to think of it this way; we help landlords and tenants become best friends by freeing up time for the landlord, so they can focus on what is good for both business and tenants. It is a better renting experience. And landlords want that, but the problem is that they have their hands full of redundant, time-consuming tasks. We automate those tasks, removing human errors and bureaucracy in the process, and putting that human connection back into the equation.

Proper is more than efficient property management. Proper is a seal of quality, safety and reliability. Our service is a lean and automated process for landlords and tenants – providing transparency and trust in the rental market.

Currently we are a team of more than 30 experienced entrepreneurs and operators and the most well-funded Proptech startup in Denmark.

We went live in Denmark in 2019. A year ago we launched in the Netherlands and the Dutch market now makes up 8% of our business. This is where Germany comes into the picture. 


About The Job

We are looking for a commercial profile to take full ownership of bringing our product and services to the German market. 

There are more than 80 million tenancies in Europe and Germany is by far the largest market in Europe with more than 21 million tenancies. Germany is therefore a very important market for us. 

As our Market Launcher for Germany you will be fully responsible for all aspects of getting us from where we are, to the first 25 customers and beyond. Including, but not limited to, market analysis, defining product adaptation, product packaging and storytelling, pricing, lead generation, sales, onboarding and customer success. 

You will be reporting directly to our CCO, but working closely with our product and operations department so we can adapt both the product and our processes to best suit the needs of the German market. 

This will basically be like starting your own company in Germany. Some of the puzzle pieces have been sorted out, the rest is for you to figure out, but we will be supporting you all the way. 


The role will change over time, but over the first 6 months it will include:

  • Building on our current market analysis 

  • Work closely with product on how to potentially adapt the product

  • Adapt the packaging and storytelling around the product

  • Adapt our go-to-market strategy and execute it

  • Build up the initial lead pipeline

  • Run all sales aspects

  • Sign and onboard new customers


What we are looking for:

You will be doing something no one has done before, we therefore don’t expect you to have all the answers. What we do expect is for you to have an open, adaptable mindset. You will have to learn as you go.

We know we are looking for a very unique person. You may or may not have taken the “classic” route to where you are in life, but one thing is certain - you worked your but off to get there. 


With that in mind, these things are not all needed, but things we are looking for:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and spirit - you are a problem solver by nature and self-motivated

  • Experience with the property rental industry

  • Experience selling a product or service

  • 2-5 years of scaleup, consulting or entrepreneurial experience

  • German and English speaking

  • Be able to travel 30% of the time

  • You can either be based in Copenhagen or in Berlin
