We’re looking for an ambitious Commercial Director who can develop a go-to-market strategy and drive the commercial agenda for minimass™ – a range of innovative, 3D printed concrete beams, columns and slabs for the construction industry.

minimass™ was founded in 2021 to solve one of the biggest environmental problems facing the world today –the carbon footprint of construction. By delivering a low-carbon alternative to traditional concrete beams and saving clients up to 70% in carbon AND up to 50% in material costs, we have a solution that is urgently needed and ready to implement at a global scale.

The Role

The commercial director is a key hire that will help to take minimass™ to the next stage of growth. He or she will be responsible for developing and delivering an ambitious sales and marketing strategy to generate excitement and demand for the product. They will also lead commercial negotiations with manufacturing partners and execute on the business's overall commercial goals.

Where we are now:

minimass™ has completed the proof of technical concept with a series of full-scale laboratory tests. We are anticipating our first live project to start construction at the end of 2022, with our products to be delivered to site early in 2023. Partnership discussions with leading industry manufacturers and suppliers are underway. We have brought in over £200k of investment so far, with a further £49k R+D grant from Innovate UK for a project to be started in November 2022.

About you:

• Experience and/or contacts within the construction and real estate industries

• 10+ years of commercial/sales/marketing experience, with demonstrable success in growing product demand and the business

• A sustainable mindset both in your work and personal life

• A degree or equivalent in business, economics, marketing, engineering, or other business-related disciplines.

Nice to have, but not essential:

• Previous start-up experience

• Experience of working in the Nordics

• A second language that you can use at work (Danish preferred, or any European language).

About minimass:

minimass™ is the trading and product name for Net Zero Projects Limited (NZP). Founded by Andy Coward, the business is headquartered in the UK, with a Danish subsidiary company. Andy is currently based in Copenhagen but makes frequent trips to the UK. The Commercial Director role would be based in UK but with the expectation of regular travel to Denmark, firstly to understand the technology/ company and subsequently for potential Client meetings and business development.

About Andy Coward, MA (Cantab) MEng CEng MICE:

Before inventing minimass™, Andy Coward was head of engineering at Bjarke Ingels Group in Copenhagen. Prior to that role, Andy was Associate Partner at Foster + Partners in London, designing buildings of all scales all around the world. With over 15 years of industry experience, he is using his strong technical skills to encourage change within construction, paving the way for a low-carbon future.
