Are you interested in empowering people through entrepreneurship to tackle global issues within education, youth unemployment as well as income and gender inequalities? Edventures aims to empower youths and underprivileged communities through entrepreneurship learning and guidance, simply by lowering the thresholds for people to explore and realise ideas they believe in.

We are developing the world's first educational AI tool for entrepreneurship, tailored to the specific needs of the entrepreneur. Through our conversational interface and our bite-sized learning features, the budding entrepreneur gets help with starting, running and growing its business or early-stage business idea.

Where we are right now and our current stack

We're finalising our prototype and this is where you come in. The prototype is almost done on the backend side, and we have the frontend/backend integration left to complete the prototype. We aim to start testing the prototype by the end of 2022, and launch Alpha and Beta versions during 2023.

We’re currently using the Angular framework, but plan to switch to Flutter as soon as possible, hopefully right after the prototype is launched. Since we’re bootstrapped, we also look into using open source software and/or low-to-no cost solutions as much as possible, such as render.com and deta.sh for hosting and backend infrastructure, both for data privacy and product ownership reasons (prevent vendor lock-in). For this we need a creative and independent developer, with a keen interest and curiosity to learn and master these technologies.

About the role

We're looking for a cross-functional full stack developer to take on the final steps of finalising our prototype and put together the separate pieces. We are looking for a skilled self-starter, who is used to working in an iterative fast paced environment. We believe that you are working with or studying software development of any sort and wish to challenge yourself and grow as a developer.

For now, this is an unpaid role, but we’re awaiting a decision for soft funding in November this year, meaning there might be remuneration tied to this role from the announcement of that grant call.

You will...

• be focused on operational tasks, and execute the existing product roadmap

• be an influential part in the technological development of our platform and tech stack, initially with a €0 budget and using as many open source solutions and frameworks as viable

• make sure we’re on time and deliver on the milestones in our product roadmap, and be a part of forming the product roadmap

• be working closely with all our team members, especially our Founder and AI Lead

We need you to be...

• experienced with overall full stack development (no minimum years of experience but an ability to demonstrate your experience)

• experienced with Typescript and Angular

• experienced with CI/CD practices, and Git as a version control system

• proactive and take responsibility to make things happen, in an organised and progressive manner

• hungry to learn more and willing to grow your technical skills

• motivated by the challenge of building a prototype with a €0 budget

• a good communicator, with the ability to engage with both techies and non-techies, and explain your work in a simple and comprehendible way

• interested in what we do and actively contribute to shape our company culture

• a great problem-solver and collaborator with others, no matter their role, and comfortable with speaking your mind and opinions

• fluent in written and spoken English
