We're hiring a Software Engineer to join our growing tech team to build the future of smart energy grids. We’re searching for a person with a curious mindset and with skills in designing, building and operating computation and automation systems.

Our service enables building owners to reduce energy costs and emissions. In practice, the product controls and shifts electricity consumption in buildings based on electricity prices and renewable energy production in the power grid. Kapacity.io is the layer between weather dependent renewable electricity production and increasing electrification in buildings.

We are looking for a problem-solver and a team-player with some essential skills, as set out below.

Essential skills and experience:

• Software development in at least one Object-oriented language (Python or Go, etc.)

• Developing software/products in cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure)

• Ambition to build great products.

In addition, experience in one or more of the following areas would be considered beneficial:

• Building automation systems (Modbus, BACnet etc.)

• Front-end development and web-design

• Working with Linux environments

• Setting up networking and server set-ups

We have a three staged interview process. After each stage, we will inform the candidate if they are invited to proceed with us to the next stage.

1. A first interview with two Kapacity.io team members; discussion on the goals of the company and how this job will help reach them & discussion on the personal aspirations of the candidate.

2. A technical interview, were the candidate presents their solution to a programming challenge that has been given beforehand.

3. A meeting with the founding team to discuss company culture, specific role and compensation expectations.

The office language is English. We are happy to support you if you are interested in learning Finnish or any other new language. As we are recruiting for early employees, we do require that you are able to frequently work with the team at our Helsinki office. Remote work is possible on a regular basis, but we strongly believe that being present at the office helps build the company culture in the best possible way.
