Hello. We are Shapemaker and we are on a mission to reinvent civil engineering for a sustainable future. We were founded in 2021 and have put together a small team working on a microservice-based SaaS-offering for optimizing and automating structural engineering, and we are starting off with telecom towers.

Building and upgrading infrastructure for 5G is a complex and time-consuming task and there is a global shortage of expertise in this area. Our software reduces the skill barrier in performing structural analysis of the towers and reduces the lead times for the customer from weeks to minutes. We are enabling fast roll-outs of new infrastructure and minimize the raw material needed for building the structures.

To achieve this we are leveraging deep competence in structural engineering, parametric modeling/computational design, geotechnologies together with a scalable cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence. Now we are looking for skilled and motivated software engineers to join the team!

Role:

This is a very collaborative role in the cross section between structural/civil engineering and software engineering. Your primary tasks will be to develop code for performing various structural analysis tasks together with experienced civil engineers. The role involves development, refactoring, testing and teaching good coding practices to the team.

The team consists of both civil engineers and software engineers in tight collaboration and your experience within software engineering and interest in learning about structural engineering will be vital to successfully bringing our product to the market. The role can be adapted to fit your desired career path.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Developing our structural engineering calculations in Python together with experienced civil engineers

• Helping to improve the quality and performance of our calculations by testing, error management and software architecture

• Assuring a robust data flow through our application to leverage the calculation results

• Develop your skills and grow with the challenge of working with a true startup

• Help resolve bugs and issues as they arise

• Contribute to becoming a fantastic team and place to work

Required skills:

• 3+ years of professional coding experience (in languages such as Python, Java, C#, C++, etc.)

• Experience with software testing

• General skills or interest in fields like civil, mechanical or electrical engineering

• Strong team player

Also desirable:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in computer science or any engineering-related field

• Experience of working in interdisciplinary teams

• Any teaching experience

• Skills in writing LaTeX

• Ability to be productive in a fast paced and changing environment

• Desire to keep learning, experimenting, evaluating
