The position

FLEXeCHARGE is a software engineering scale-up that closed its pre-seed investment round with teams in Copenhagen and Germany. We are looking for a student UI/UX developer who wants to grow and develop together with us.

The product

FLEXeCHARGE develops advanced load- and energy management software solutions for electric vehicle charging infrastructures. Our platform integrates the charging infrastructures with the utility grid to enable emission-free transportation. The FLEXeCHARGE software platform supports owners of large-scale charging infrastructures to charge their electric vehicles faster, greener, and cheaper. Our Smart Charging Solution consists of our vendor-independent smart charging Software as a Service (SaaS) platform and our local edge-computing IoT Gateway to interface local energy resources, solar inverters, energy storage, and EV charging stations. One of our key differentiators, due to our architecture, is the ability to develop and implement customer-specific smart charging solutions efficiently.

Your Tasks

You will be the principal UI/UX developer for the user interface of our FLEXeCHARGE Smart Charging Platform. The FLEXeCHARGE Smart Charging Platform enhances new and existing charging infrastructures with advanced load and energy management services and smart charging features. It is compatible with any charging station and Charge Point Management System (CPMS) on the market, and it is completely vendor-independent. The platform plugs in between the charging station and the CPMS using the standard Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP).

The user can group charging stations of charging infrastructure into clusters for which advanced he can select smart charging and load management services such as static and dynamic prioritisation, solar-based charging, and the integration of power meters to measure additional loads such as a building and many more. Further, the user can select a specific Charge Point Management System (CPMS) for each charge point.

Our smart charging platforms allow monitoring of the state of the charging infrastructure and the allocation of charge currents and the energy flow at the infrastructure in real-time but also to watch historic energy flow data. Further, the user gets summaries about energy flows over specific time horizons, e.g., the ratio of grid to consumption from local solar panels.

The platform user can configure the load and energy management system with full user experience in and simple, self-explanatory way. And the user interface of our smart charging platform is the only touch-point for the user of our products, and thus an extraordinary user experience is essential.

You will work closely with our backend system developers, full-stack developers, and the complete software engineering department. You will also collaborate with the marketing and product management team to ensure that we fulfil the demands and expectations of our users.

Your tasks

• Being responsible for the user interface and the user experience of our smart charging platform

• Being accountable for the quality and reliability of the UI also implementing UI functional testing

• Support custom-specific projects and specific implementations for customers

• Improvement and further development of the user interface

• Collaborate using Gitlab, Slack, Linear, etc.  

Your Profile

You have a degree in the field of computer science, software development, or similar, and passion for UI and UX design:

• You have experience from previous positions as a front end developer in React, preferable using React-Admin and TypeScript.

• You have a Can-Do attitude, are structured, take full responsibility, and are not afraid to execute on your own.

• You gained already experience and are passionate about the technologies mentioned above.

• Know your way around Gitlab and pull requests.

• You love to provide maximum user experience and are able to present complex data in a simple and user-understandable way.

• You are curious about future technologies and creative with an eye for perfection.

• You excel in communicating with many new people and love to do so.

• You are fluent and professional in written and oral English. German is a plus but not required.

As a Front End Developer at FLEXeCHARGE, you will directly report to our CTO Robert Brehm who leads our R&D efforts with his academic experience and network and likely future collaborations with universities or their students in the future.
