We are looking for a full-time Android developer (based in Helsinki downtown) to join our growing team working on making the world's fastest job-matching app.


Who we are

Treamer is a Helsinki based award winning startup, providing an on-demand staffing platform. We help companies to find and manage temp staff for retail, warehousing, maintenance and hospitality jobs while the platform workers get easy access to jobs nearby and are paid fast. Our unfair advantage on this €500Bn market is that we are super fast - last year 85% of filled orders were filled in under 55 minutes. We have raised 2m€ in funding, are a local champion in Finland and expanded to Estonia last year. We have 12 000 MAU across markets and are preparing to open new markets at a growing pace. Our team has previous exits and over 30 years of industry experience. We have a clear vision that we are working hard on implementing. Product is at the center stage of all success, we strive to improve product and vision over time.


What you would do

As a Senior Android Developer you will play a critical role in making the experience of job seekers and employers on the Treamer platform smooth and efficient. You will be working in a cross-functional product development team that is partially located in Helsinki, partially - remote. In the Helsinki office you will be working closely with CTO Artem, head of product, several software developers and a UX designer.


For this role you will need

  • Senior level of software development experience. Exact number of years isn’t important, but you are likely to have several of them under the belt. You should be comfortable speaking on why this or that approach to structuring code is good, on memory VS performance, on how much and which kind of testing is useful where and similar topics

  • Good experience with Android development, at least some of it being related to UI and related to consumer apps

  • Experience or interest in Jetpack Compose

  • Good communication skills. While we do prepare the projects before jumping into development, almost always they have a certain amount of flexibility as some needs for the tradeoffs can be found only when you do touch the code. Therefore discussion with the designer and other colleagues during the development is likely to be useful

  • Good level of English


Also good to have

  • Experience or willingness to learn Kotlin - it is our primary language for Android

  • Experience or interest in writing unit tests and UI tests

  • CI/CD and app deployment on Google Play

  • Interest in looking at the other parts of the stack. You will communicate closely with fellow developers on the Java/Kotlin-based backend and iOS side of things

  • Previous experience of startups or fast growing company is not required, but very welcome


What we offer

  • Mostly an in-office work environment (a few meters from Helsinki’s Kamppi mall). We are flexible with vacation days, working hours and it is absolutely fine if you want to work from home a couple of times a week. However, we believe in value of live communication where it can be achieved easily, so the product development team works most of the days from the office

  • No-nonsense management. People at Treamer have several startups under their belt. We have worked on web services with millions of users (still running), we had our Android and iOS apps featured in the App Store and Google Play way more than once. Even some of our hobby projects sometimes dominate the less known app stores for months.

  • Agile development that makes sense. We do look at what our customers and users need, how they react to development and adjust accordingly. Yet we do not support any sort of “agile” crunches, do not buy the quickfix-driven development and give architecture the needed research time. You will receive help and you are expected to provide one.

  • High end company equipment: phone and laptop of your wish, good monitor if you like having one, whichever software and hardware you need for doing the job unless the price is much beyond reasonable
