Do you want to help accelerate the green energy transition as part of a fast-growing, impact-focused team? We are looking for an ambitious software engineer to join our early-stage, VC-backed startup.
About us
We are Geniess. Our mission is to enable 24/7 clean electricity. We do this by developing software to optimize and evaluate grid-scale energy storage installations. Our solutions enable faster and better battery storage investment decisions, improving the system design and accelerating implementation.
We’re a small and fast-growing company, with funding support from both Norwegian and international VCs. We are building a curious and collaborative team to tackle one of the most important - and unsolved - challenges in the energy transition today. We are prioritizing building a diverse team and ensure everyone can bring their full self to work.
About you
The ideal candidate is impact oriented and passionate about the energy transition. As part of an early-stage startup, you are self-motivated and can work in a dynamic and independent way. You are curious, have an appetite for learning, and aren’t put off by challenging problems. Our solution lies in the intersection between fields such as data science, power systems, and investment analysis, and we highly value curiosity and good collaboration skills across disciplines.
About the role
In this role you will be working closely with the CTO and dedicated energy experts, developing solutions for running and hosting models simulating optimal battery configuration and performance in various services, with the goal of answering questions such as: “How long is a battery installation at a solar plant expected to last?” and “What is the optimal battery capacity for a large industrial plant?”.
Our solution is built using Python, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform, and we are planning a React frontend. We emphasize modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-code, and use serverless infrastructure where possible. As an early employee in a small startup team you’ll get the opportunity to collaborate directly with leadership and be a key part in shaping the development of our product and engineering team.

Experience coding in Python or similar language
Experience in backend or full-stack development
