About Hypertype

We're a venture-backed startup building a professional-grade data pipeline and machine learning models designed for stress free productivity. Our mission is to provide relevant information without the need to search for it. In a world of information overload, being able to ask questions the way we would to a colleague is paramount. We intend to solve that: allow people to ask questions the way they speak without searching for the relevant information.

We launched our prototype in June. We got a ton of interest and are scrambling now to deliver the features, performance, and polish the user experience.

At Hypertype we are an early stage startup working on an innovative service for sales. We are backed by top-tier investors including Luminar Ventures, Propel Capital and tech angel investors who have 20 years of operational experiences in NLP/AI. We have validated our offering with our end users and are now building our platform towards launch.

About the role

We're looking for smart, motivated generalists who can contribute across our stack and who like to ship things quickly. We have a web app, a chrome extension, a few data pipelines, some backend infrastructure backed by Google Cloud and Firebase and, of course, a few natural language processing (NLP) models. We have a lot to build in every part of our stack.

What you’ll be doing

• Wear whatever hats needed to make the team succeed - we're a small team

• Ship quickly - we deploy multiple times per day and value rapid iteration with users

• If you like frontend: Create engaging and pleasant user interfaces for desktop browsers as key member of our frontend engineering team.

• If you like backend: Design and build the APIs and backend infrastructure behind our apps.

• If you like data and cloud: create, manage and monitor data processing pipelines, ensure data quality, pipeline reliability and data “freshness”. And there is security and access control at every step, so being privacy focused wouldn’t hurt ;-).

• If you like ML research: Build, train and deploy NLP models, evaluate various models and document experiments.

• Tell us what should be building that will bring value to the customer, your work is going to directly impact people.

• Getting better at getting better.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for a smart, experienced software engineer who can contribute across our stack, and who loves to write and ship things quickly.

• Strong hands-on experience in developing web/data intensive applications

• Highly proficient in at least one of these languages: Javascript, Go and Python

• A high attention to detail - email is so heavily used that the polish of our apps is critical to our business

• Good technical communications skills (in English), both verbal and written

• A willingness to work hard as part of a team and learn new things quickly

• An owner mentality - there's a lot to do, and we need people who are excited to take the lead on projects
