Salary Unpaid

We are looking for you who we can expand our team with and will help build our business' profile. Your main tasks will be to generate brand material and build our webside.

What is Simplewire?

Simplewire is a startup with its roots in DTU. In Simplewire we're creating a hardware product that will digitise electrical installations in large buildings. Our vision is to be the go-to solution for electrical tagging.

What are your tasks?

  • You will be tasked to refine our visual communication so it matches our product and customer base. There will be plenty of room for experimentation and innovative approaches.

  • Product presentations in the form om manuals, pictures and potentially videos.

  • Redesign our webside.

  • Anything you believe is important for the company that is within our skillset.

What are your competences?

Professionally

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite.

  • Experience with webside development.

  • It’s a bonus if you have experience with photography and shooting videos.

Personally

  • Able to manage several tasks parallel to each other.

  • Outgoing and flexible personality.

  • Good time management and organisational skills as well as high attention to details.

  • Whether or not you speak Danish does not matter, however you need to be fluent in spoken and written English.

What do we expect from our cooperation?

You are able to work autonomously but are also prepared to be part of an innovative environment in our small office on Frederiksberg. You are cheerful, supportive, helpful, creative, talented and when needed a nerdish simplewire-team member.

You don’t need to know anything about electrical design, but be prepared for a lot of nerdy conversation at work about circuits, PCB's and analogue design.

You will have good opportunities to form your working day as it suits you best - working hours are flexible and most of them will be spent on Frederiksberg.

What will we offer you?

We will offer you an internship which you will have the influence to shape in many different ways. There’ll be interesting and exciting tasks, tasks were you will have a big impact on how it should develop and be formed. Last but not least we’re offering you to be a part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team where we work together - and naturally we offer free lunch and a desk ;)

Who are we?

We are a team of three enthusiastic engineers with very different skillsets. Dennis has experience as an IC developer, Peter as an advisor in the building industry and Sasha as a project manager. None of us think that electrical tagging systems are sexy, but we burn for the potential that we believe this idea has.

When do you start?

The internship will start either in August or in September. Which one of the two is up to you and your university. The internship should preferably last 20 weeks, but more or less can also be acceptable.

We’re looking forward to reading your application.

Kind regards the Simplewire team

Working at
Simplewire

All buildings contain a myriad of electrical installations, which must be marked according to their point of origin. The process is called marking. Today, it is done manually with thousands and thousands of labels on wires, sockets, lamp sockets and junction boxes. Marking costs an enormous amount of labor time in planning and execution, and is virtually impossible to do correctly, as human error is inevitable. That leads to poor marking, which is a huge concern for building owners. Simplewire is a digital system that's installed at the switchboard. ASK modulated signals are transmitted on the wires, and can be picked up wirelessly by our reader device. Doing it the old way, with labels, would have taken months and months to complete, and even longer in old buildings, if at all possible. With Simplewire, a whole building's electrical installation can be mapped 100% correctly, in less than an hour, and with no needed maintenance. We have 3 devices. A Controller for each switchboard, which controls an amount of Routers (one for each breaker), and a Reader, which the building's managers and electricians have, that's used to read the wireless signals from the wires. We use an MCU to modulate a bitstream which contains the ID of each Router, which is transmitted on the wire. An analog front-end demodulates the signal into a bitstream, which is resampled with a MCU, so the ID can be unpacked and presented to the user. There's not much to it - we build hardware, nothing else. We design the analog electronics ourselves, in our electronics lab, before having them built by our PCB fabrication. We write all the code for our MCUs and we build and test and build and test and build and test until it works.
