Divein.com is looking for an Assistant Editor to join our team of outdoor enthusiasts. We test, and produce gear reviews and create content for a wide range of activities on land, on water, and in the sea.
The ideal candidate will need to have a sharp eye for detail, a critical mind, and wicked prose. Those competencies will be applied to texts written by our staff of full-time and freelance writers.
You need to be:
Critical and curious
Someone who demonstrates a beyond-average command of written English
A person with some experience with two or more activities about which we review
Maybe you’re a journalist or have worked in marketing. Maybe you’re an English lit graduate with an affinity for the wilderness or the ocean.
Your duties will also take you beyond the screen, sometimes demanding you take a paddleboard for a spin, hike through a park with a daypack and take some pictures of you out testing some gear.
Multi-tasking and mental agility are traits that will serve you well at Divein. We like to enjoy the activities about which we create content and so should you.
Responsibilities:
Check the articles for spelling and grammatical errors.
You’ll read up on topics and challenge the writers on their findings and facts. Four eyes are always better at seeing the details and getting them presented to our readers.
You’ll also take gear out for testing from time to time.
Qualifications:
Strong writing and editing skills
Proven ability to work independently and juggle daily, medium, and long-range deadlines
Self-managing and able to collaborate effectively within a creative team of writers and designers
Experience sourcing photos from databases
Ability to provide and receive clear feedback and direction
Ability to work across different disciplines, implement notes on your writing, adapt to different brand voices
A sense of humor
An interest in an active lifestyle
