Job description

Do you enjoy complex real-life problems and want to challenge yourself to solve optimization problems? Optimization of routing problems to convert traditionally static waste collection to dynamic data-driven waste collection. It is crucial to release high-quality software in this role because you will be designing the next-generation routing software for waste collection.

You have to improve the existing routing engine that harnesses machine learning to predict efficient emptying intervals, simulate route optimizations, and provide recommendations for structuring a more intelligent infrastructure.

The perfect candidate has years of industry experience working as a routing engineer as a Rust developer and thrives with responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features in our existing Vehicle Routing Problem (VPR) engine

• Improve the performance of our VRP engine

• Improve the scalability of our VRP engine

• Add new optimization objectives to our VRP engine

• Add new data streams (3party traffic data, etc.) to our VRP engine

Requirements and Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with backend development, preferably in Rust, in a large-scale software application

• Willingness to program in Rust for the majority of your work

• Experience or interest in Optimization Theory (deterministic/stochastic), dynamic programming, linear algebra, probability, and statistics

• Experience or interest in Heuristics/Metaheuristics methods

• Feel comfortable with: Jira and Git (Bitbucket)

• A natural curiosity for new scripting languages, frameworks, and technologies

• Knowledgeable with Agile – have Scrum way of thinking/working

• Open-minded and constantly pushing towards innovative ideas

• Can work in a spontaneous and dynamic atmosphere with split-second decisions
