About Panda Training

Using scalable conversational coaching augmented by AI, we offer 1-on-1 coaching at a fraction of the usual price through Slack/Teams. While supporting individuals in improving self-awareness is key, we also assist companies in accelerating change. Aside from coaching individuals, we gather anonymized and aggregated insights for our customers.

Caring about the development of our users wouldn't mean much if we didn't also deeply care about the development of our own people. Having raised our previous round in late 2021 and grown to over 10 people, we intend to keep moving fast but never at the expense of the well-being of our team or the warm and welcoming environment we've built.


About the Role

At Pandatron we're looking for an experienced Backend Developer to help us set up some of the core building blocks of our coaching solution. Including working with API implementations, data elements to feed the future machine learning applications, user management systems, systems helping with customer reporting, and so on.

You'll work on a product that meaningfully affects the lives of our users as we help them work through important developments in their careers, challenging personal situations, changes in their organizations, and everything in between.

You will join our Product team to work directly with our CTO. This is a solid way to work with an experienced team that has the background to help you grow as a developer. As we grow, you'll have loads of opportunities to advance - be it into a more leadership-oriented role or maybe to be our future Principal Programmer. But let's not get too hung up on titles or the like!



What you'll be doing

  • Work in tandem with the Product team and others across the company to design and implement key data elements, APIs, and fundamental infrastructure for the product

  • Design, build, and support platforms for monitoring and surfacing data quality issues

  • Effectively communicate with other teams + external stakeholders, escalate technical and managerial issues at the right time, and resolve conflicts

  • Demonstrate an eye for quality and productivity by use of efficient development techniques, standards, and guidelines

  • Solve problems and have a large degree of ownership for the delivery of your code and design

  • Support the platform and ensure continual uptime


Essentials

  • Strong experience with using Node.js and the Express framework

  • Experience with working with MongoDB

  • Having the ability to upkeep the microservice architecture of CI/CD on AWS containers, code pipeline, and green/blue deployment through Elastic Beanstalk environments.

  • Solid communication skills and a willingness to speak out when you think something is not going in the right direction

  • A tendency to create robust unit tests and to make use of common testing frameworks


Nice-to-haves

  • Some frontend experience using React is a nice plus

  • It's great if you've dabbled with machine learning

  • Led teams or projects before? Good stuff, but not strictly necessary

  • Willingness to take part in ideating features

The Details

Hours: full-time, but we are of course flexible.

Starting: ASAP

Location: we are fully remote, even though many of us reside in Helsinki.

Clients: Our clients include companies like Universal, KONE, Mindvalley, and Skanska

Our tech team: You will be working with our 5 person tech team and Tiago, our CTO, who has 11 years of experience in the roles of Solutions Architect, IT Management, Software Dev, Product Owner, Data Scientist, and DevOps. He left Amazon European HQ to join Panda Training.

Process:

  1. Introductory chat (20-30min) - an initial intro call with our COO.

  2. Technical chat (30 - 60min) - going into more detail with our CTO. Includes a short live coding section with three exercises.

  3. Final chat (30 - 45min) - final questions and practicalities before the final decision and offer.
