Do you want to contribute to the development of breakthrough emerging technologies combining machine learning, data science and privacy-enhancing tools? Are you interested in designing and implementing cutting edge solutions that facilitate the answers to key business questions? Do you get excited by the opportunity of designing advanced tools and building infrastructure to analyse vast amounts of data? Do you value diversity and are sensitive to different environments and cultures? Do you make change happen by working well with others?
The company
SynData is an emerging start-up developing privacy enhancing technologies that enable the secure and safe protection of sensitive data and reduce the need for large amounts of data for advanced analytics. Our solutions help customers all around the globe share data in a privacy-preserving manner with partners without risking the disclosure of key business insights while maintaining essential statistical properties crucial for product development. SynData’s mission is to unlock the power of data from data protection regulations without risking the disclosure of private and sensitive information.
The role
We are looking for a curious and self-driven intern to help improve and develop further the evaluation framework of our synthesising and anonymising AI-engine.
In this role you will work autonomously and alongside current software and machine learning engineers, closely partnering with product management, and other non-technical stakeholders across the organisation. You will identify potential functional utility and privacy metrics and, define and implement methods to validate the results of our AI-engine against these metrics.
Responsibilities
Work with stakeholders across the business to understand the use cases and deliver functional metrics and proposals of evaluation methods to refine the synthetic data representation of our AI-engine.
Design and implement models, tools, tests, metrics, and dashboards to evaluate the development cycle of our AI-engine.
Work closely with other engineers to seamlessly integrate with backend systems.
Work closely with researchers to support evolving research projects and implement new production features.
Requirements

Hands-on skills in at least one modern programming language, e.g., Python, Java or Scala, is required. Python is a plus.
Experience with data science tools such as scikit-learn, numpy, scipy or pandas is a plus.
Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras or PyTorch is a plus.
Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as GANs, or neural networks such as RNNs is a plus but not strictly required.
Experience with privacy-enhancing tools such as differential privacy or k-anonymity is a plus but not strictly required.
