Helsinki, Finland. We will help you relocate for the summer if needed, show you around and make sure you have the best Helsinki experience with us.
8-12 weeks, with a 1-week paid vacation in the middle. We will work with you to make sure that the exact timing suits your personal schedule, but you can expect to start working some time around May-July.
Veri is an early-stage startup on a mission to help people feel go(o)d through better metabolic health.
We do this by providing everyone access to their metabolic health data through a continuous glucose monitor and combine it with our software to provide actionable insights related to nutrition and performance.
Our journey started in a hacker house in the Bay Area where three frustrated, driven-to-build-things-kind-of-minds, got together to build a product that wasn't available to us and our closest community.

Veri is looking for talented junior software developers - current or recently finished university students - to join our team of 20+ people for this summer. You’ll be a part of a group of 3-4 interns, who will with the help and guidance of some of our team members work on a data-oriented task.
You’ll turn the data of thousands of users into useful product insights and develop features/services that have an effect on their end user experience. We’ll work with you to shape your project to best fit your interests and strengths.
🌈 First and foremost, we're looking for people who are excited about what we're doing—you don't need to know anything about metabolic health, neither do you need 10 years of experience in engineering, but should be excited to learn.
💻 You’re pursuing or have recently finished a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
🛠️ You can readily learn most technologies as you go (languages, frameworks, tools).
🧠 You approach building things with experimental mindset following Pareto Principle.
🌋 You have serious hustle boiling inside of you.
🐍 Basic knowledge of Python (or a similar language), preferably having used common data science tools - numpy, pandas, scipy, matplotlib and similar
🎋 Familiarity with Git (commits, branches, pull requests and related concepts)
🤔 Strong mathematical and algorithmic background, analytical thinking
🎢 You're not one to throw up on a rollercoaster - we’re moving fast, so you’ll need to be able to adjust and be flexible on a day to day basis
🧑💻 Basic knowledge of Node, Typescript, React Native or Terraform (we use these throughout our stack)
🧑🔬 Experience with applied data analysis or applied ML (from model design to deployment)
A competitive monthly salary, which will cover your trip and stay at Helsinki and more
A fast-paced and thrilling working environment that helps you grow as a software developer
Access to continuous use of our product and sensors for the duration of your internship
A small and nimble team (+20 people) of builders
Dope office space in Kallio, Helsinki - healthy snacks, good coffee, adjustable desks, gym space
Exciting company events - daily health challenges, weekly company lunches, bi-weekly after-work events
Special events to show you around Helsinki
Working environment and culture that believes we should work to live, not the other way around
Application review (asynchronous)
After you shoot us an email (see below), we’ll review it and send you a challenge if we find a match for the role.
Technical Task + Review (3-4 hours + 1 hour)
We’ll give you an interesting problem to work on to showcase your skills and interests. After that we’ll meet, either remotely or in person, to discuss your work and our team.
We will also try to give you an overview of our product – tech stack, development process and roadmap - You'll get to ask questions and we'd also love to hear about your sweet spot and interests within the areas we are working on.
If we feel that you could contribute to our work and you're excited about the challenges we face we'll move forward.
Meeting the Crew (1 hour)
Finally, we'll get people from various teams into one (virtual) room with you, before making the final decision. Usually, these discussions are more about us vibing together and getting a feel of how working together would in the future feel like.
Short intro why you think Veri would be a great next step in your journey 🗺

While you’ll get to meet the whole team during your internship, your application will be reviewed by the two of us from the Veri backend team. We’re excited to meet you this summer! 💪
