Kapacity.io is an early-stage energy optimisation company backed by Y Combinator. We're hiring a Software Engineer to join our growing tech team. We’re searching for a person with a curious mindset and with skills in designing, building and operating computation and automation systems.

Our service enables building owners to reduce energy costs and emissions. In practice, the product controls and shifts electricity consumption in buildings based on electricity prices and renewable energy production in the power grid.

We are looking for a problem-solver and a team-player with some essential skills, as set out below. 

Essential skills and experience:

• Software development in at least one Object-oriented language (Python or C++, etc.)

• Developing software/products in cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure)

• Ambition to build great products.

In addition, experience in one or more of the following areas would be considered beneficial:

• Databases (SQL, NoSQL)

• Data science and analytics (Python, R)

• Experience in developing API's (fastAPI, Flask, etc.)

• Working with Linux environments

• Setting up networking and server set-ups

• Building and/or home automation systems (Modbus, BACnet, Z-Wave etc.)

• Machine learning or Artificial Intelligence (Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch)

The office language is English. We are happy to support you if you are interested in learning Finnish or any other new language. As we are recruiting for early employees, we do require that you are able to frequently work with the team at our Helsinki office. Remote work is possible on a regular basis, but we strongly believe that being present at the office helps build the company culture.
