About the company

Smartsky AS is a young, innovative and exciting tech start-up invested in the technological development of smart cities and communities. Since our establishment in 2020, we have achieved great results in a short time, securing various projects and funding. To date, we have 10 employees working in close collaboration with our Norwegian and Finnish tech partners actively developing tech solutions for smart cities.

We are now implementing a large-scale national pilot project in partnership with Bodø municipality in Norway, which involves the development of two tech products 1) Smartsky - a platform that collects and structures data in a way that enables smart cities 2) Safeplan - an application that feeds critical data of properties and residents to emergency services during an emergency. To support us in this project, we’re looking for an inquisitive and innovative senior developer/architect willing to take on a leading role in tech development.

As our lead in tech development, you will play a crucial role in developing tech products that will form the basis for our services for smart cities of the future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team and with various stakeholders, including customers and external tech suppliers and developers. You must be able to identify technological opportunities while at the same time having a pragmatic eye for creating both short- and long-term prospects. You will be required to work in close collaboration with the company's management team, where you will be responsible for the technical aspects of the product. As our senior developer /architect, you will also be accountable for the decision-making of  the tech aspects of the project.

About you

Experience with:

• Key roles in complex IT projects

• Previously worked with IT architecture and technology development

• Close collaboration with customers, stakeholders and external developers

• Backend: Azure functions running Kotlin, MS SQL and PostgreSQL databases.

• Frontend: NextJS running in Azure + PostgreSQL databaseCI/CD: Azure Pipelines + GitHub Actions

• Azure Data explorer (timeseries db) and Azure Digital Twins, Terraform for IaC

Skills highly desirable:

• Technology enthusiast with a good business sense 

• Good communication skills

We are looking for someone who:

• Communicates well in Norwegian and/or English

• Has relevant experience as an architect or senior developer with a desire to take on more overall responsibility

• Has relevant education at college or university level, but the relevant experience can replace educational requirements

• Experience with public common components, map solutions and integrations, preferably from the municipal sector and/or IoT systems

• Proven track record in agile development and agile methods, SaaS and cloud solutions (preferably Azure)

• Has an overall technology strategic vision and has hands-on experience in all aspects of software development, including code design, code implementation/maintenance and testing

Option to be based in  Lofoten, Bodø, Oslo or remote. Working hours are mainly daytime but must be flexible to meet clients' needs.
