Historian or archeologist researcher/consultant for an Educational Viking Game

Salary Unpaid

About our game

We are developing a prototype of a digital historical educational card game starting with the viking times. The aim is to inspire learning of history. The upcoming game is in pre-production.

In our game the player is given control of a Danish settlement in the viking age. The player will be given quests, both of historical importance and educational relevance. The player can explore Northern Europe, gather resources around their settlement, fight battles and interact with other settlements. The player will be able to expand the settlement, engage in quests and progress in history. While learning throughout, the players will also be engaged in thinking critically and reflecting on social structures, culture, consolidation of power and key characters and events in history. Additionally, the player will be able to explore Nordic mythology. The narrative and game play will be based closely on the written sources and the player will have to apply critical thinking and historical terminology in order to make the best decisions and succeed as the leader of their viking settlement. The inspiration comes from: Magic, Civilizations, Age of Empires and Heroes.
