Before you continue… This job is targeted at a person who has programmed +10 WordPress websites from scratch. Just so you don't waste your time reading something that is not relevant to you anyway.
You're still there. Great! We are happy to have you. Listen, we have an opening as a WordPress developer, and we need to fill the position as soon as possible. Optimally, no later than September 1st.
Abtion is a digital agency. We design and build digital products for others. We are 40 employees, of which roughly 80% of us are programmers. So, as a WordPress developer, you will be surrounded by like-minded and given a unique opportunity to learn and grow.
WordPress has been part of our "stack" for more than 12 years, and today we can brag about having some quite large and interesting WordPress clients. Here are three of the latest websites we have provided:
Novo Nordisk Pharmatech CPH:DOX Copenhagen Business School
We build our websites from scratch; we do not use Elementor, Divi, or whatever they are called. Our clients choose us because they need their websites to perform, be easy to extend, and low maintenance. This means that you need to program PHP, not just configure and write CSS-overrides !important.
We work as much as possible in teams, and pair programming is an established part of our daily routine. We do not expect you to have experience with pair programming already, but close collaboration must appeal to you.
It's okay if your strength lies in either the backend or frontend, but you should find it fun to work at both "ends."
Here is a list of our expectations to you:
You need to be comfortable with PHP and Javascript.
You get plus points if you have experience with React or Vue.
You must be able to program a WordPress plugin from scratch.
You get plus points if you already have experience developing Gutenberg blocks.
You must be comfortable with Git (Github, Bitbucket, etc.).
You have experience with setting up CI/CD.
You get plus points if you have experience with automated tests.
In Abtion, we are all employed on regular 37-hour contracts and get paid accordingly—but we only work four days a week, 30 hours in total from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, it is our "job" to rest and relax (except for five days a year where we meet for "team day"). You can learn more about our 4-day work week here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgzefHyiofA
On Wednesdays, we all work from home. We call it "Work Away Wednesday." On the other working days (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) we meet at the office. We have made this arrangement because we care a lot about our culture and believe that it thrives best when we meet physically. At the same time, we also recognize that homework offers a special setting to focus and be productive. By synchronizing our homework days, we can get the best of both worlds.
Although we take time off every Friday, we also take holidays, of course. You get six weeks of vacation a year.
We have two offices. One in Copenhagen and one in Odense, and we are roughly the same numbers of people in each office. You have to decide for yourself where your desk should stand. In both offices, you will get a healthy and delicious lunch, served from the outside, every day.
We are not interested in your gender, CPR number, age, and nationality, nor do we need a picture of you. We judge you solely on your competencies and experience.
Here is a list of the process you can expect to go through:
2 x informal coffee talk, which primarily aims to ensure that there is good chemistry between us.
1 x "pairing session", where you, in close collaboration with two developers, solve a task.
We are pretty thorough with our hiring process. It is important to us that we choose our new colleague carefully—just as it is vital for us to ensure that we are the right place for you.
We look forward to receiving your CV.
This job comes with several perks and benefits

Peckish after lunch? We got your back with soft drinks, treats and fruit.

We want to take you from good to great.
