Head of Growth Marketing

Salary Competitive

Kide Science helps make science accessible to children as young as three. We provide educators around the world with story-based lesson plans that are backed by academic research conducted at the University of Helsinki. Children fall in love with the critical thinking skills that will help them succeed for decades to come.

We’re building the next generation of critical thinkers, worldwide.

And we need your help to bring this message to the masses.

A Little About Us:

We have won several competitions in our field, and we have investors like Reaktor, Sparkmind, Zanichelli Venture and Emerge Education to back us up.

You’d get to work alongside 14 colleagues, including a diverse team of pedagogical experts and multi-talented individuals.

We place a high priority on working culture, and we optimize for learning and working collaboratively. We would love you to spend most of your working time with us at the office in Helsinki*, and being fully in the office is ideal. However, occasional work-from-home is a-ok. We’ll offer you all of the tools you need, as well as all of our knowledge and skills.

(*We’re currently doing a bit of hybrid work until the COVID situation changes, but it’s highly likely that later this year, on-site is the expectation.)

The Role:

You will be responsible for customer acquisition, from awareness to purchase, and for maintaining healthy unit economics.

This includes mastery of digital acquisition channels, an understanding of how we can leverage world-class content to grow our brand, and having the creativity to bring new ideas to the table and while also executing the day-to-day things we need to do to grow the business.

Sample Week:

  • Monday: Reviewing the MTD metrics and OKRs to make sure we’re on track and making quick updates to campaigns and your plan for the week. You advocate for your recommended product improvements (using data!) at our company-wide backlog review.

  • Tuesday: Writing a blog post with help from a pedagogical expert, loading it into the Hubspot, posting and promoting it. Proving strategic growth guidance in a workshop for a new product feature.

  • Wednesday: Refresh our Facebook creative and repurpose a webinar into on-site and social content. Improve our marketing automation, fixing a problem or adding a new integration. Attend a retro with the team to improve communication.

  • Thursday: Contribute to discussions about overall business strategy, researching a new target market, and helping other team members with their roadblocks.

  • Friday: Lead the Growth Team weekly meeting, attend the company weekly meeting, and clean up any of the last tasks from your weekly plan.

Your Background:

  • You’ve managed budgets for a growth organization before, and balanced growth needs with maintaining a positive ROAS. For us, this is Facebook and Google at the moment, but YouTube, Influencer marketing, and affiliates are potential performance marketing channels in the future.

  • You understand our advantage. You can dive into our product, evaluate it from a user's perspective, and generate & analyze the data required to turn your hunch into a validated product need. Finally, you can create a business case for that requirement and get it prioritized in the company backlog.

  • You can talk to our target audience. Written content, videos, and webinars are all viable content channels at our disposal to demonstrate value and expertise to our target markets, and you can at least do quality control and set strategic guidance.

  • Analysis isn’t something someone else does; you know how to get into the data and find answers to your questions.

  • Testing and learning is part of your DNA. We’re doing a little testing now. In the future, we’ll do exponentially more testing.

  • Evaluating and learning a new digital technology is nothing to you. If you hear about a cool new tool we can use to improve, you can evaluate and suggest it.

Optional, but Helpful:

  • You’ve gathered data from web tools, written raw SQL queries, and visualized it in Google Data Studio or other data visualization tools

  • Retention and/or virality (referrals) is part of your skill set, too. Why just keep CAC low when you can increase LTV, too?

  • You’ve upskilled a team before. You’ll be a resident in-house growth expert, and there’s more to do than you can do on your own. Teaching the rest of the marketing and sales team how it’s done will be extremely helpful.

  • You’ve worked with Hubspot, AppCues, Stripe, Zapier, Unbounce, Hootsuite, and any of the other tools that BuiltWith will tell you we use.
