Who are we?

Kaffe Bueno is a novel bioscience ingredients company using green chemistry and biotechnology to upcycle coffee's by-products into ingredients for cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and functional foods. Our mission is to unlock coffee's health potential where harmful emissions are minimised and coffee’s by-product usability is maximised Our vision is to transform the way people perceive coffee; to look at it as a magical bean with the potential of improving human health by using what lies inside it. 

We are an ambitious and diverse team, ready and eager to change the world through coffee and science. We are based at Alfa Laval Innovation House in Søborg (Greater Copenhagen), where we have our offices and our pilot plant with various labs and pilot equipment. There is also more than 20+ different companies, and a thriving collaborative environment.

As we continue exploring and scaling the potential of coffee, biotechnology has become a key priority in our company. Hence, we are looking for an experienced industrial biotechnologist to join us and help us in this journey.

As our Senior Industrial Biotechnology lead, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and influence the future of the company and contribute to the development of our unique biorefinery.

Responsibilities and work:

• Optimize and scale up our current biotechnological processes.

• Manage ongoing and future projects with external partners such as Technology/University institutions and industrial partners

• Run lab experiments and pilot productions within enzymatic and fermentation processes in our pilot plant.

• Product development within biocatalysis and fermentation.

• Provide technical support to our commercial team when needed.

Who you are:

• At least 3 years of industrial experience preferably outside of academia and looking for a new challenge outside a big organization

• Experience within the WellCare/ingredients industry (Food, Cosmetics, Pharma or Supplements)

• Msc or PhD within Industrial biotechnology or Bioprocesses (fungi, bacteria, enzymes)

• Expertise in downstream and upstream unit operations, covering process development, technology transfer, troubleshooting, process analysis, optimization, cost reduction and upscaling, basic knowledge of analytical techniques

• Good working and managing teams, but most importantly proactive and independent as you will be running your own projects.

• Be able to handle several projects at the same time, in a structured and organized way.

• Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, drive, and own initiative are key attitudes for success at KB.

• Be ready to work in a dynamic and growing organization. New challenges will arise almost every day, and be comfortable with the unknown as we push the boundaries of what is possible with coffee’s biomass. In KB you can contribute to creating your and the world’s future.

• Motivated to join a start-up company because of its growth opportunities and challenges.

• Danish is an advantage but not required.

• Based in Denmark or willing to relocate.

• Available to start in August/September 2021
