Using space technology, we at Dynaspace are solving global data gathering challenges, helping advance aquaculture transparency. We are a multicultural, dynamic and small (but growing) team.
Aquaculture is the rapidly growing food source and livelihood for billions of people across the globe. Today, the aquaculture industry is facing huge challenges: scalability, sustainability and primitive production methods. Our vision is to drive sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry through using satellite images to turn raw data into actionable insights via our cloud-based platform. We want to contribute to environmental and sustainable food production for generations to come.
We are looking for a data scientist who loves data and annotation! You will work to solve problems involving categorization of data/content (i.e. training data) in satellite images to improve our system's ability to detect aquaculture ponds, fish cages, etc. You will work hands-on with data annotation to provide high quality labels, scrutinize this material closely to ensure that it is accurate and thoroughly tagged. You will also validate pre-categorized data, assist the development and maintenance of a training data catalog, and maintain best practices for data quality standards.
If you possess high attention to detail and a strong work ethic – this is the job for you! Candidates having curiosity and interest in startup culture, aquaculture and sustainability will contribute well to our mission.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Analyze data, establish proper classifications and apply them appropriately
Provide feedback to our engineers if data is noisy or instructions are unclear
Provide constructive feedback to our engineers on tooling and processes for more efficient labelling, and to improve data quality
Maintain ownership of each annotation assignment, and respond to any changes in procedure
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or similar
Experience with object detection, satellite image annotation, or other related work
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (you will be working with a multicultural team)
Good at ‘forensic analysis’ and noting distinctions between similar images or material
Ability to work independently and manage one's time
Strong imagery pre-processing skills and functional knowledge of satellite or drone imagery would be a plus
Familiarity with various AI/ML frameworks and/or models (e.g., Tensorflow, Caffe, etc.) is a plus
Commitment & Compensation:
The role is structured as a contract position with remuneration based on the candidate’s experience level
We have offices based in Bergen and Oslo, however remote work options are available for this role
We are in growth phase and will extend the option to high performing individuals to join the team permanently at a later stage
So reach out to us if:
You would like to work in a fast growing company with an innovative business model and diverse team
You are a collaborative self-starter who wants to dive right in
You want the opportunity to develop and drive your own projects
You want to go behind the scenes and be a part of driving sustainability in the aquaculture industry
