Software Engineer - User Productivity / IT Tools & Products

Salary Competitive

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer who wants to be a part of the Tools & Products team of IT and work on developing and implementing several software systems based on our tool stack with a focus on enhancing the productivity of our teams at Northvolt.

You will be involved in gathering and translating quantitative company data and qualitative insights into creative ideas leading to product decisions and development efforts by aiming at building a user-focused digital product company.

We see you interacting with other department leads, business units, and technical stakeholders to improve their systems and working methodologies with an acute lean on cloud transformation of data and automated/intelligent handling of it.

As an engineer in the Tools & Products team you will help us optimize our tools and applications, find ways of removing cognitive load of our engineers, office and management users, while performing their day to day activities. In this role you would be working with IT and multidisciplinary teams to analyze how our engineering, business and office tools and applications are delivered, experienced and used, identify gaps and find ways to optimize and automate workflows within our organization. You will get the chance to operate and manage the internal configs of our main used systems, Atlassian Jira (Software & Service Management), Confluence, GitHub, Microsoft PowerAutomate, Microsoft PowerApp and develop flows and automated tasks through our RPA tool.

Furthermore, in the position as a Software Engineer you will work with several IT processes and tools, from developing customized tools throughout Microsoft's solutions to tasks concerning the analysis, configuration, and implementation of future upgrades of our Atlassian platform. This includes optimizing our centralized service desk strategy, incident and on-call management process, developing further linkings and integrations of all of our digital user platforms. You will focus on enhancing the usage of existing tools and optimizing how various teams of the company operate and make use of applications – as well as develop in-house tools when there is a need for them in the development environments of the platforms mentioned.

  • Make sure our stack of applications are properly managed for security, reliability, availability and scalability in a dynamic growing environment.

  • Scope, propose and implement scalable and reusable solutions, set up non-production environments and carry out test scenarios for tools that will support our Northvolters working in the office & factory

  • Identify issues and risks in a proactive way

  • Analyze and improve our incident and on-call management process through reverse engineering and other methods

  • Document and share knowledge on-the-go

  • Support other teams in larger efforts implementing requested business processes aiming at their modernization through data centralizing

  • Use CI/CD Tools in the context of RPA for enabling automation tasks.

Working at

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely. To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history. Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our two gigafactories: Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden, and Northvolt Zwei in Salzgitter, Germany. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
