About Bookalista

Every year, millions of new books are sold and bought in Denmark. Unfortunately, many of these books end up on a bookshelf - doomed to collect dust for the rest of their days. And it's a shame, because books (almost) live forever if we take good care of them.

Bookalista is a marketplace platform for buying and selling pre-loved books. Through our product, people who love great books but also want to reduce consumption, can buy and resell books to others in a peer-to-peer marketplace model.

Our users will have access to a large variety of neatly organized book titles but at a much lower cost, as well as a friction-less payment/shipping system allowing for a much easier way to resell and buy second hand books.

Bookalista is looking for an experienced developer and potential CTO to join our team. The type of person striving for new challenges, is eager to grow and is motivated by making the world a better place through technology. You’ll be in charge of taking our product to the next level, defining new technical solutions, as well as building a scalable product together with the team.

The platform

Our web app is currently in its final stage of development with only a few elements left to be implemented. The primary platform is built in the MERN stack. We plan to build a native app using React Native, so it is a requirement you have an understanding of this framework. Interest in and fundamental understanding of building scalable data systems is an advantage.

• Experience building scalable web apps

• Full-stack experience

• Solution-oriented, ambitious, self-driven

• Motivated by building delightful products, contributing to product roadmap

• Previous experience with entrepreneurship is a plus

You will become a core part of the leadership team. You will be responsible for updating, fixing bugs, bringing new ways to improve the customer journey, administration of the platform, and work alongside all kinds of stakeholders taking part in the development of the business. You have to be willing to go without a salary in the beginning, however, the right candidate will be compensated by meaningful equity ownership.
