Do you want to revolutionize the way thousands of books are switching hands every day? Are you passionate about building awesome full stack technology? Do you want to play a key role in an early-stage and purpose-driven startup?

About Bookalista

Every year, millions of new books are sold and bought in Denmark. Unfortunately, many of these books end up on a bookshelf - doomed to collect dust for the rest of their days. And it's a shame, because books (almost) live forever if we take good care of them.

Bookalista is a marketplace platform for buying and selling pre-loved books. Through our product, people who love great books but also want to reduce consumption, can buy and resell books to others in a peer-to-peer marketplace model.

Our users will have access to a large variety of neatly organized book titles but at a much lower cost, as well as a friction-less payment/shipping system allowing for a much easier way to resell and buy second hand books.

Bookalista is looking for an experienced developer and potential CTO to join our team. The type of person striving for new challenges, is eager to grow and is motivated by making the world a better place through technology. You’ll be in charge of taking our product to the next level, defining new technical solutions, as well as building a scalable product together with the team.

The platform

Our web app is currently in its final stage of development with only a few elements left to be implemented. The primary platform is built in the MERN stack. We plan to build a native app using React Native, so it is a requirement you have an understanding of this framework. Interest in and fundamental understanding of building scalable data systems is an advantage.

You

  • Experience building scalable web apps

  • Full-stack experience

  • Solution-oriented, ambitious, self-driven

  • Motivated by building delightful products, contributing to product roadmap

  • Previous experience with entrepreneurship is a plus

You will become a core part of the leadership team. You will be responsible for updating, fixing bugs, bringing new ways to improve the customer journey, administration of the platform, and work alongside all kinds of stakeholders taking part in the development of the business. You have to be willing to go without a salary in the beginning, however, the right candidate will be compensated by meaningful equity ownership.

What we can offer

  • The freedom to work with the latest technologies and the authority to define the technical path ahead.

  • Equity & co-foundership

  • A creative and solution-oriented work environment where the best ideas win.

  • Flexible work environment with the possibility of working remote.

We look for the candidate who enjoys solving highly complex problems, is willing to learn along the way and is passionate about building great products.

Bookalista

Every year, millions of new books are sold and bought in Denmark. Unfortunately, many of these books end up on a bookshelf - doomed to collect dust for the rest of their days. We buy many books to only read them once. Students buy textbooks every semester, then never look at them again. And it's a shame, because books (almost) live forever if we take good care of them. Books deserve to be read again and again and again. For the sake of memories, entertainment and the environment. Wouldn't it be great if the books that you no longer read, but at the same time do not bother throwing out, could be given a new life and create joy for another reader? Creating that extra space on your bookshelf and maybe even buy one of the many books you dream of reading? That's what we think. And that's why we're creating a marketplace specializing in buying/selling pre-loved books. A platform that makes it easy and efficient to sell and buy used books; where great titles do not drown in baby toys and spare parts for cars, where no contact between seller and buyer is required and where the trade is completely safe and secure for both parties. Say hi to Bookalista! Your marketplace for buying and selling used books - and nothing else.
