Flowplan is offering an IoT solution for remote water management, specifically for Industrial kitchen appliances and coffee machines.
In order to measure consumption, we are currently using an off the shelf flowmeter. In order to improve the solution, we want to develop our own flowmeter, with several new implementations. In order to do this, we need a skilled mechanical engineering student for developing and testing our new flowmeter. You will test competing products, 3d-model, 3d-print, test and document.
The existing solution comes with an off-the-shelf flowmeter. In order to improve the product, we want to develop our own flowmeter with added functionality.
You will help develop our own water turbine flowmeter. The existing flowmeter consists of a plastic housing with an internal impeller that generates pulses as water flows.
You will start by testing different existing flowmeters, talk to our customers about improvements and extra features, e.g. added sensors.
After researching, you will conceptualize the new flowmeter, CAD-model it, 3d print it and make improvements until we reach a design that makes sense.
Your work will include:
User testing
Mechanics
Fluid dynamics
Embedded electronics
Product testing
Conceptualization
CAD-modelling
Rapid prototyping
Testing
Product specification
DFM
Mold design (in collaboration with external companies)
You are an engineering student from e.g. Mechanical, Design & Innovation, Process and Innovation, Integrated Design or similar.
You are experienced with CAD, design for manufacturing and rapid prototyping.
The internship is intended for ~4-5 months, but if you have something else in mind, let us know!
