Startup Norway is looking for a Head of Sustainability that will lead the development of a new company unit: the Sustainability team. The Sustainability Unit will be responsible for the development of existing and new products and services towards corporates, startups and public entities in Norway and the Nordics that are working towards a more sustainable future and want to innovate as a part of that process. 

The first unit’s product will be LOOP. LOOP is a Nordic initiative that aims to accelerate the transition to more circular economy business models in the Nordics by facilitating pilot projects between circular economy startups and corporates that want to become circular. LOOP has 5 Nordic partners, Avanto, Agens, Antrop, Startup Iceland, Startup Norway, and it is supported by Nordic Innovation and Sitra.  

The Head of Sustainability in Startup Norway, will have as a first task to lead the development and successful execution LOOP project in 2021. For this project to be successful, the Head of Sustainability will be responsible for recruiting both the corporations and startups that will be part of the LOOP Labs, it will coordinate the LOOP Labs delivery that will be provided by our partner Agens and will guarantee customer success and satisfaction throughout the whole LOOP process.

This is a one year position, with the possibility of extension

About the role

As the Head of Sustainability of Startup Norway

You will:

• Be a spokesperson for Sustainability in the Nordic Startup ecosystem

• Sell and develop new Sustainability projects with new corporate partners and startups in Norway and the Nordics 

• Lead the Sustainability unit and manage our existing Nordic collaboration project on Circular Economy: LOOP 

• Sell LOOP Labs to corporates in the Nordics and lead the recruit relevant startups to join the LOOP Labs 

• Work closely with our Nordic partners and Startup Norway management team on project planning and reporting

• Build and maintain relationships with Nordic corporations and startups working towards sustainability and circular economy

• Grow our Nordic community by bringing new partners into new and existing sustainability projects

• Create proposals and product descriptions, and maintain a dialogue with potential partners to identify new opportunities.

• Shape and create new sustainability and circular economy initiatives

• Organise events, workshops and webinars on the topic 

You are:

• An experienced team leader

• A person with a great understanding and knowledge in the sustainability space and have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of successful sustainability initiatives 

• Interested and passionate about corporate innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship.

• Skilled in project leadership and project management

• Skilled in corporate sales 

• Skilled from minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. 

• The best of both worlds: analytical and relational, strategic and hands-on, rational and emotional, purpose and profit driven, and you understand both the corporate and the startup world.

• A person with proficiency in English, orally and written. Norwegian is a plus, but it is not required. 

• Ideally, a person with experience from working in a corporate innovation unit or a startup in topics related to Sustainability
