We are ferritico, a Swedish software company disrupting the global steel industry. Based on more than 10 years of leading KTH research we are developing a machine learning tool provided to our customers as a SaaS. The ferritico service digitalizes the processes of developing, manufacturing and implementing steel, helping our customers to significantly cut time and costs.

​We aggregate large sets of steel properties and process data and apply physical-based and machine learning models enabling our customers to predict and view correlations in data when optimizing materials, products and processes. Ferritico is currently providing the opportunity for an engineering student to do an Internship at Ferritico.

The Internship​

This internship constitutes a unique opportunity to join the Ferritico team in central Stockholm and to initiate a potential career in data and materials science where informatics, i.e. data and computational modelling is key. As a Data Scientist Intern you will support our data collection activities including identification of new data sources, data migration and digitalisation and data quality validation. You will document and work creatively to develop machine learning models and implement these together with the Ferritico team. Your work will foster the highly profitable shift towards data-driven work patterns within steel development and manufacturing and include:

• Data collection, i.e. manually digitalize steel data available from images, diagrams etc. or implement technologies or tools, e.g. NLP, to automize the data collection  

• Define and implement data quality assurance metrics, methods and tools

• Develop and deploy machine learning models

• Test machine learning software prediction output and benchmark results against other simulation tools

Requirements:

·    Master student in Materials, Computer or Data Science or similar

·    Exceptional communication skills. Fluent in written and spoken English

·    Rigorous attention to detail and focus on timely high-quality deliverables​

·    Experience with at least one programming language, preferably Python.

Meriting skills:

​

·    Experience from statistical modeling and machine learning using e.g. SciKit Learn
