Savvie is an exciting food tech startup which is leveraging data and machine learning in order to help food businesses boost profitability while reducing waste. We analyze large volumes of data and translate that into actionable insights which are easily accessible in a user-friendly app. With VC backing from Antler, and support for Innovation Norway - we’re looking for a head of data science who can help us transform the food industry and prevent thousands of tons of food waste each year.
After just three months of working on Savvie, we already have 22 locations lined up to test our MVP - including Åpent Bakeri and Baker Hansen - and we’ll already be revenue positive in July!
We have a devoted team of advisors around the world including some of the most prominent investors in the Norwegian startup ecosystem - Anne Worsøe and Trond Riiber Knutsen. We’re currently a team of 8 people comprising 7 different nationalities with a wide range of expertise from strategy to user experience working in a fun and inclusive environment.
Who you are:
We are looking for a passionate and self-driven data scientist to lead our algorithm development. You will be responsible for the overall data strategy and architectural vision; while also getting your hands dirty coding it. You love working with data and using it to solve complicated problems.
You have a proven track record of delivering outstanding work, and you keep a level head even with shifting circumstances around you.
You have a deep understanding of how data can impact society and how it will shape our future.

What you’ll do:
Lead the data strategy and the development of the data roadmap for Savvie
Work with other data scientists to improve our current algorithm
Understand how data can impact the daily operations of food businesses - and being able prioritize insight which is critical for the user to have
Lead user testing to assess the algorithm’s accuracy
Research additional data sources which could be added to the algorithm in order to improve forecasting accuracy
Understanding future opportunities to leverage data in order to help the users
You’re a great fit if you have
A proven track record of developing a robust & scalable algorithms which have successfully been implemented to deliver value for customers
Extensive hands-on experience working with time series analysis
Strong knowledge of Python and Jupyter Notebooks & hands-on experience building databases
Good knowledge of back-end software development architecture
Master’s degree in Data Science, PhD preferable
An ability to make technical trade-offs between short term team needs and long-term business needs
