Novosco was formed in 2007 from a merger with two leading ICT companies in Northern Ireland, Real Time Systems and 4sol Ltd with the Novosco brand name derived from two Latin Words, meaning ‘new understandings’. We have acquired other businesses since then, and are now the market leader in Ireland for Cloud services with a growing presence in the UK. We currently employ around 200 staff in total at the moment, with ambitious growth plans due to ongoing expansion in our market.
Main purpose of the job
This role covers the implementation, management, maintenance and support of all network infrastructure, perimeter security systems and network management platforms and offers the chance to become the authority on these subjects
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Management of the business system data including our Disaster Recovery systems
- Supporting all network and security infrastructure (LAN / WAN / WLAN / Firewalls / Application Delivery Controllers etc.)
- Day-to-day maintenance and operation of the above.
- Implementation of any new systems related to these areas.
- Continual improvement of the systems based on changing demands.
- Liaising with various departments within the business.
- Coordinating with 3rd party suppliers and partners to support, maintain and implement these systems.
- Integrity and control of business data
- Control and support of Internet access
- Ensuring business data is backed up and securely held off-site
- Daily management and monitoring of core network systems in the Network Operations Centre
- Datacentre visits for hardware and software maintenance and installation
- 24/7 support cover

Experience and skills:
Experience (essential):
- A broad technical knowledge of Network Technologies
- Excellent knowledge of LAN / WAN / WLAN management
- A good understanding of Firewalls
- A good understanding of IT Networks infrastructure
- The ability to work on own initiative and to address and resolve problems in a busy environment
- Able to resolve incidents in the Network environment used by the customer
Experience (desirable):
- Excellent understanding of Huawei network technologies (vendor certifications desirable).
- Understanding of storage networks and datacentre technologies.
- Experience with Fortinet network security equipment
- Experience with service provider or enterprise network environments
- Experience or understanding of common routing protocols
Interpersonal Skills:
- Articulate and a clear communicator
- Be a customer advocate
- Have the ability to converse technical terms and definitions to non technical personnel
- Experience in report writing
- Meticulous with excellent attention to detail
- Interested in Continual Service Improvement
- Able to multitask and handle large amounts of complex information
Additional Information
Training:
Internal training on products and services will be provided. However, staff are expected to consistently keep abreast of new developments, which would impact on their areas of responsibility. Personal training in relation to this job description will be given as part of the company’s overall personnel development program.

Salary:
The salary and benefits for this position will be determined according to the experience of the person appointed.
General Guidance:
The nominal working week is 37.5 hours, although a degree of flexibility is both offered and expected. In specific circumstances there may be a requirement to work additional hours.
