Do you want to help end loneliness in education? Differ is seeking fullstack/backend/frontend developers to help us in this quest! As a part of the tech team, you will be an integral part in designing, solving and implementing the tech needed to maintain and further develop our Differ chat platform. Our current tech stack includes Google Cloud, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, Docker, MongoDB, TypeScript, React, React-native or NodeJS.

About Differ and the future of education

Differ is a group of passionate and motivated people that have set out on a mission to end loneliness among students. Our insights show us that 87 % of first-year students find it difficult to cope with social or academic aspects of university life, while 40 % say they feel lonely and isolated. This needs to change.

It’s an exciting time at Differ. We have world-leading edtech investors that trust us to change education for the better, and we are building our chat application that helps students makes friends. Right now, we just need a few missing pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully, one of them is you.

Your job: Developing a product to end loneliness in education

When you join us, we will define your role together. It will probably involve:

Responsibilities within the tech team

Depending on your skillset and motivations you will be given an area of responsibility. We are responsibility-oriented instead of typically hierarchical, so communication is key here. Our main areas of responsibilities involve devops, react native apps, desktop app and backend

Adopt our knowledge-sharing culture: Personal and professional development is vital for company and employee happiness. We dedicate time to self-learning, so if you learn something new, the rest of the team would love to hear it.

Communication: Depending on your role within the tech team, you would need to communicate with other parts of the team. Being able to communicate potential challenges, improvements or opportunities it vital. Transparency and communication is key at Differ.

Embracing our agile product development process: Being able to work together with PO and UX to develop, test and deploy features or improvements in both our staging and production environment.

Implement a lovable product: It is important that you feel proud of what you're doing here at Differ. We want to move fast, but at the same time, the quality of what we are making should not be sacrificed.

Getting your hands dirty with code and the tools we use: Working with and improving our tech stack. Working with our codebase, not only pushing out new code, but also verifying that it works by writing tests. Tools you will become familiar with, if you aren't already, includes Github, CircleCI, Codepush, Fastlane and Helm.

• You who have experience in building and deploying web applications for mobile or desktop. And not afraid to tell us how we should improve.

• You have experience in working with an agile development process

• You who can bring new perspectives to our team. We have four nationalities so far, and we would love to hear from you no matter background, nationality or gender.
