Technical co-founder

Salary Competitive
Equity To be negotiated

We're solving a very big problem in the world's cities: That we don't know enough about what architecture, urban spaces and services that city-dwellers like and want. With a smartphone app coupled with a data intelligence platform, we retrieve raw data from people on the street and, through intelligent handling of big data, offer a whole new level of insight into what makes a good urban world. These insights will not only help us create better cities to live in — they are also highly monetisable.

Are you a developer that wants to have a real impact on the world, and build something almost from scratch? Become part of a small founder-team turning a truly big idea into reality.

We want to join forces with 1-2 developers who'll become part of our founding team. We are building a smartphone app and a web-based data-intelligence platform at the same time, so we have no exact list of requirements to your skill set. But it should include as many as possible of these:

Core Android / iOS development

  • Flutter (or ReactNative)
  • Swift
  • Java

Data handling platform

  • Python
  • R
  • JavaScript / HTML / CSS

As you can see, you can become involved with developing either the mobile or the web application, but in an ideal world you can work with elements from both.

We have no funding yet, but have real interest from relevant investors and other parties. What we need to do now is build and launch a strong MVP to validate our proposition.

Until we raise funding, you will, like us, be paid solely in equity.

This is why we are also open to developers with existing commitments that pay their way.

If you can allocate at least 20 hours per week to develop our product, that is enough for us to consider you. The hours invested will be reflected in the share of equity.

We are not just interested in a brief commitment, though. We are looking for a true co-founder who'd be willing to come onboard full-time (and more) when we have raised finance.

We are hoping to be included in a tech-accelerator in Copenhagen from August-November, so ideally you will be able to participate in this, at least part-time.

NOTE: Formerly called 'Civitize'. Changed to 'CityChange' in spring 2021. --- We are currently four people — spread across Europe. Our Danish co-founder, Anders Ojgaard, has 18 years experience with both start-ups and consulting for some of Denmark's biggest companies and is a well-known figure on the urban design scene in Denmark. He has years of experience working with application design — and equally with urban architecture and communications. He recently left a position as the head of an internet project that had one of Denmark's largest corporations as its investor. Our backend developer has 10+ years of experience and works with a big stack. Significant experience with system architecture, PHP, JavaScript, server setups etc. Now building experience with Python and Swift. We have a product concept, a design and a prototype. We are currently building a MVP, which is going through alpha-testing at the time of writing, summer 2021. Expected launch in August/September. We are too early-stage for funding. We have, however, had an unusual degree of interest — including from both European VCs and one in the US. The aim now is to launch the MVP in a controlled environment (single city), presumably Copenhagen. Once we have built up an initial user-base, we will go back to the investors that have asked to be contacted at this stage. We are currently also laying the ground for collaborations with the biggest cities in Denmark, and have had one top-level meeting about a future partnership. We are currently interested in talking to 1-2 potential co-founders that want to come in at this early stage. At least one of these should be an experienced developer (PHP/Python/Elastic Stack). The other should be a person with relevant experience from start-ups and business development, ideally working with govtech / proptech OR it could be a UI/UX designer with experience with both mobile app design and web app design.
