Third phase: Circular Blue Economy Project for Equinor

The Innovation Effect connect the best companies and students through our innovation programs. In collaboration with over 360 students, we have completed over 80 projects, with 57 companies from over ten universities and colleges in Norway. The Founder and Managing Director has extensive experience from brand building and communication in national and international companies. Annette is also a certified innovation coach. The TIE team represent a broad variation of areas of expertise.

The project initiated by Equinor is facilitated through The Innovation Effects learning and innovation program. In this program the students who participate are given the mandate to challenge the company, and present innovative ideas to solve the challenges that the company is facing. The project is paid, part-time with flexible work-hours and is compatible with full-time studies and other part-time jobs.


About the company and project:

Equinor is an international energy company with over 20,000 employees globally. Today the company develops oil, gas, wind and solar energy in more than 30 countries worldwide. During 2018 Equinors Innovation Team has been exploring the ocean as a commercial space.

The main objective of the project is how Equinor can leverage their competitive advantage by further developing the opportunities in the ocean space. The project is divided into three parts: Research, Consept development and Profitability. A team of 4 students have completed the first phase of the project and is working on the second phase. So far, the student team have made a recommended shortlist of 10 utility solutions for idle platforms. They are now identifying the top 1-2 utility solutions for idle platforms based on economic, political, social, technological and environmental factors.

Now we need 1 student to join the team for the third phase of the project. In the last phase, the students will develop a profitability analysis on the best solutions and make a final report with recommendations for Equinor, including cost estimates, a value proposition canvas and a business model canvas.


We are looking for 1 student with the following competence/experience:

• Economic student with a specialization in finance (“siviløkonom”)

• Experience doing profitability analysis for new concepts and designing value

• propositions

• Experience building business cases

• Experience in the oil and gas industry or other offshore industry is a plus
