The exciting e-Com startup Salecto is looking for a full-time PHP Developer to continue our successful development of our hosted Magento platform. We are looking for an experienced PHP developer to help scale our platform to a whole new level including developing a scalable tech stack and implementing a new development strategy making the platform ready for internationalization.

We seek a developer with a drive and a “can do” attitude, who is ready to become part of a delivery driven and collaborative team in a fast paced exciting environment. You will need to work quickly on multiple projects, have a great attitude and excellent communication skills. In this role you will work closely with the founders, lead project manager, and other team members. We expect this role to evolve into a Lead Developer role over the coming 12-18 months. You will also become a big part of managing and communicating with our outsourced development team daily and thereby supporting the project management. As a growing team, we work collaboratively on all our key projects and therefore, there will be plenty of opportunities to make an impact.

Specific tasks and main responsibilities 

• Configuring and developing the Salecto eCommerce solution, currently based on Magento 1.
• Becoming a big part of the new Salecto 2 solution based on Magento 2.
• New features and debugging of issues on existing.
• Working on our existing customers sites.
• Translating business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Performance optimization and ensuring scalability of back-end and front-end builds.
• Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders.
• Ongoing development and support of features on existing client sites.
• Close collaboration with lead project manager around daily operations of platform and clients.

Your skills and qualifications  

• 2 years commercial experience working with Magento and skilled Magento Backend experience.
• Significant PHP experience, including experience building object-oriented websites in PHP – PHP7, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, XML and XSL.
• Solid experience interacting with MySQL database systems through abstraction layer (in addition to the ability to write raw SQL queries).
• Knowledge of Magento development best practices, including extending existing functionality, creating custom modules, and working with its API.
• Exposure to CSS pre-processors such as LESS and SASS.
• Knowledge of Javascript is an essential, previous experience with jQuery and prototype is a bonus.
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Experience with battling cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Experience with version control tools, such as Github.
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that sites will adhere to them.
• Solid understanding of responsive design through Bootstrap 4.
• An ability to work with deadlines and to communicate effectively with other team members.
• Good attention to detail and pride in your work.
• Strong problem solving skills.
