We are now looking for an experienced Java Developer / open source database enthusiast to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best open source technologies into frustration-free cloud services. This position is open to candidates in Helsinki or Berlin area.

Aiven offers and operates a number of complex open source databases written in Java, like Apache Kafka, Apache Cassandra and Elasticsearch. You will be working closely with those, writing plugins, connectors and other extensions, investigating and fixing possible issues with the databases, even contributing to the feature development of the open source databases. And submitting the new components and fixes upstream to the open source community.

You can also participate on the development of Aiven platform, where we mostly use Python as well as some Go and C. On the frontend side we use React/JS.

We are looking for self-driven developers who are enthusiastic about programming and willing to help others. We value analytical problem-solving skills and an openness to new ideas.

Key requirements for success in this role include:

• Excellent development skills in Java (SE; Java EE, Spring, or Hibernate knowledge is not required) and at least with one of the following: Python, C, C++, Go, Javascript

• Hands-on experience with some of the following systems: Apache Kafka, Apache Cassandra, Apache ZooKeeper, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Elasticsearch

• Excellent Linux systems administration and networking skills

• Fluency in English, verbal and written
